It's pumpkin season, woohoo. 🦊🧡🎃 This is a Hokkaido squash. I made soup from it today, it's wonderful and lasts me for 3 days. The nice thing about Hokkaido squash is that it doesn't have to be peeled before cooking.

My attempt at cooking ratatouille is probably not authentic but it is delicious 🦊🧡
My ratatouille contains zuchini, bell pepper / paprika, aubergine / eggplant, tomato, onions and garlic. But it's more of a tomato sauce than in the traditional french recipes. But it's delicious and it lasts me for three days which is great.

I feel really great today 🦊💚 I went through a shitty time recently with health problems and moodyness but it seems I'm finally stable again. If anyone here struggles with back problems or depression try going on walks. Make it a daily routine. Walking in the countryside helps me feel a lot better.

A nice forest walk and a great day overall. 🦊💚 It's the first time that my back isn't hurting and I can fully breathe and I had so much more energy than all these past months. I feel amazing.

I forgot to post my recipe for the Älplermagronen (Swiss Mac and Cheese). It's in the text description of this picture. :P
200 g Macaroni
100 g Cheese (Swiss Gruyere or whichever you like)
1 cup Cream
1 Onion, cut into rings
Pepper and Salt
Butter or Oil (to fry the onions)

Fry the onions on medium temperature in a frying pan until they turn golden brown. Make sure to turn them occasionally.

Boil the macaroni in a pot with salted cooking water until they turn "al dente". Takes around 8 minutes from my experience.
Pour away the water, put the macaroni in a bowl.

Add the cheese and cream and stir until the cheese melts and mixes with the noodles. Add a bit of pepper and if needed, salt.
It should already be salty from the cooking water but this depends on your taste.

Finally, pour the fried onions over it.
That's it. Enjoy!

I cooked Älplermagronen. The Swiss version of Mac and Cheese. 🦊💛🧀 Made with pasta, cream, cheese and onions. You can also add potatoes if you like. This easy and filling meal was traditionally eaten by the herdsmen in the Alps since Italian workers brought pasta to Switzerland in the 19th century.
A pan of freshly cooked Älplermagronen. A traditional Swiss dish made with pasta, cream, cheese and onions. Potatoes may also be added, but I skipped them this time.

It resembles the popular English dish of Macaroni and Cheese (Mac and Cheese).A plate of freshly cooked Älplermagronen. With a cute, fluffy fox plushy sitting nearby.

When you're autistic it can be difficult to change routines, even bad ones. For summer I slept with a fan in my bedroom. The noise helps me sleep. But it's too cold now and the cool air hurts my back. Yesterday I broke my routine. Now I use a white noise generator and I woke up pain free today. 🦊🧡

The 9/11 documentary by Jules und Gédéon Naudet is important: youtu.be/_Iw-1bOQNIA They were making a film about Ladder 1 of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) when 9/11 happened. Jules caught the first plane on camera and accompanied FDNY into the North Tower. By a miracle they all survived.
Two French-American brothers, Jules und Gédéon Naudet, wanted to film a documentary about a rookie firefighter, Antonios "Tony" Benetatos, working in the Ladder 1 unit of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY).

9/11 happened in the middle of filming their documentary. Jules went with the firefighters to film a routine incident, a gas leak in a storm drain in Lower Manhattan, when the first plane crashed into the North Tower and he caught it on camera. From there Jules accompanied FDNY into the North Tower and filmed the entire terrible chain of events. All of FDNY Ladder 1 and Jules survived, evacuating shortly before the North Tower collapsed.

Gédéon had stayed behind. He went out in the streets out of worry for Jules. He filmed the 2nd plane crash and people's reactions in the streets as the South Tower collapsed.

They also filmed the grueling FDNY rescue operations at ground zero the following days.

The full documentary is on YouTube and absolutely worth watching: https://youtu.be/_Iw-1bOQNIA

The Naudet brothers' raw 9/11 footage is also on YouTube: https://youtu.be/CqzbHEfX3o8

My thoughts go to the victims of 9/11 as it happened 25 years ago today. I was 9 at the time. I watched the news with my grandparents and they phoned my aunt who lives in New York state. Everyone was crying, I was too. But I was too young. I didn't fully understand what happened until years later.
A photo of the World Trade Center Twin Towers in New York City at sunset. Taken before September 11, 2001.

I couldn't bring myself to post a photo from 9/11. I felt this was more appropriate.

I do like the look of the remake, but the original is still there. And I still love playing it.

The Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake trailer made me want to play. I love the game, I'm nostalgic. 🦊 But was another 1:1 remake necessary? The N64 original + 3DS version still exist. So maybe I don't need it? I don't have a Switch 2 yet. I'll celebrate 40 Years of Zelda by playing my N64 like in 1998.

A CD-R I burned myself back in 2004. The material degraded over time. The disc became useless. Let this be a warning to all who have old home burned discs laying around. If there's anything of importance on them back them up. Longevity depends on the brand but they all will degrade eventually.

Loving Henry - By Harold & Margaret Winters on "Songs of Our Mountains" (1966). Scottish Murder Ballad. It survived better in the Appalachian Mountains than its home country. This obscure record was never reissued which is a shame because the performances on it are great.

The Unquiet Grave - Sung by Ed McCurdy on "The Ballad Record" (1955). Another ghost ballad. And more obscure out of print folk records from the 50s and 60s. According to the song excessive mourning disturbs the dead. Basically it told people to get over their grief and move on.

Lost Jimmy Whalen - Sung by Paul Clayton on "Timber-r-r!" (1958). Irish Canadian Ghost Ballad based on a real drowning accident. Paul Clayton was an American folksinger and folklorist in the 1950s & 1960s. He was gay and took his own life at 36 years old due to depression related to his sexuality.

I bought this because it was cheap. 🦊🎵 Kraftwerk - Я Твой Слуга Я Твой Работник ("I'm your servant, I'm your worker") 2xLP Live in Munich Germany Circus Krone 12 June 1981 I had a version of this bootleg on orange vinyl previously that I sold to my friend Babass.
Kraftwerk Live in Munich 1981 - Vinyl Sleeve Front

Bootleg 2x vinyl LP of a Kraftwerk live audience recording from the Computer World Tour 1981.

The orange vinyl came with a cardboard sleeve. This one is wrapped in thin folded paper.

Another vintage Kraftwerk bootleg. This one is from 1982. The sleeve reads "Made in England", but it might as well have originated in Eastern Europe. Bootleggers often intentionally obscured the place of origin. It's on black vinyl but orange coloured vinyl with the same cover art also exists.

The recording has a very distinct, bass heavy sound which stands out. There's a cassette recording of a KW concert taped at Metropol Berlin on 10 June 1981 which has the same distinct sound which leads me to believe both shows were taped by the same person using the same equipment.

Not much to say about this other than it being a flawed recording of a fantastic concert and one of the few to feature the songs with German lyrics. I prefer the German versions of most KW songs because they have a rhythmic emphasis on syllables that's lost in the English translations.

The set list was as follows:

Vocoder Intro
Nummern
Computerwelt
Computerliebe
Heimcomputer
Das Modell
Neonlicht
Geigerzähler
Radioaktivität
Die Stimme Der Energie
Uran
Die Sonne, Der Mond, Die Sterne
Ohm Sweet Ohm

Echolalia - It's when people repeat words, sounds or phrases they heard over and over. It can be a form of autistic stimming. But I also do it when I get fixated on a pleasant sound. Sometimes I meow. 🐱 Or I keep repeating words or songs. Like this fragment of the Scottish fairy ballad Tam Lin. 🦊🎵

One of my favourite folk songs is Drimindown. An old Irish lament for a cow. 🐄 The Droimeann cow is an old breed of cattle in Ireland officially recognised as a rare native breed in 2020. It's nearly extinct. Now I'm convinced the song refers to this cattle breed. The Droimeann (white-backed) cow.

A friend asked me what a furry is. :P We're fans of anthropomorphic animal characters. Animals with human traits. Many have a fursona, a personal character they identify with. Furries enjoy and create art, costumes, stories etc. based around this. For me it's a form of escapism from real life. 🦊
It's just me wearing silly fox ears :p

Some furries have very elaborate and cool costumes, but I don't have one. Never say never, though. It's me as a cartoony fox. Ren Fuchsfein is my online avatar
