A shop does not need to be beside a river to flood. Heavy rainfall and surface water can damage stock, equipment and fixtures. Blocked access alone could stop customers and staff from reaching you. Know your risk, back up important records and plan how you would keep trading.

🌱 Is your small businesses ready for new carbon emissions tax rules? 🗓️ From January 2027, businesses importing goods like aluminium, cement and fertiliser into the UK will need to comply with stricter carbon emission record-keeping rules under the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. (1/2)

Scotland's 380,000 small businesses are looking for signs in the Programme for Govt to give them the confidence to start investing and creating jobs. That includes a fair deal on rates, scrapping the overly-complex rates assessors system, and no increase in regulation or taxes.
