pdsls.dev also supports deleting records in bulk. I had no problems deleting ~5k records with a few clicks and less than a minute or two max a while ago. Very handy and very fast if you want delete whole collections from your repository.

If you run the popular Homebrew installer @brew.sh you might want to read this. E.g. signed binaries will become mandatory soon, and there is a deadline (2027) for Intel support on macOS.

Node excitement 😉 Congrats to @marcoippolito.dev on making it official: type-stripping in Node 25 is now declared to be stable 🎉 You can run: node index.ts The capabilities have not changed since Node 24. This is purely a maturity indicator.

Though I have to mention that the old account/repository on @altq.net was not removed in that process and was still marked active. Intentional?

atproto guarantees that you cannot change a records once it got submitted without changing its integrity, but atproto does not guarantee that data will always be available. That is still the domain of blockchains, which atproto purposefully does not leverage directly.

120

Archived fry69 @fry69.altq.net · 11/11/2025

That is basically how atproto works by the way :)

120

Archived fry69 @fry69.altq.net · 11/11/2025

Your own PDS repository is "irrerevocable" like a git repository. Your design is okay, just use your domains you control for lexicons, not ones that you do not access to. If you store data about government officials and their votes in your own PDS repository, everyone can clone/cache it.

140

Archived fry69 @fry69.altq.net · 11/11/2025

As with everything on the internet, there may still be sites with cache for a very long time or are configured to ignore those delete notifications. So those records will probably continue to exist in some form or another.

130

Archived fry69 @fry69.altq.net · 11/11/2025

You need to turn your PDS on again, delete those records (with e.g. pdsls.dev) and it will send out delete record notifications to the relays to propagate. You can also do this with the lexicon records, as unless you have access to the .gov domain, you cannot turn them into verifiable lexicons.

German Nazi party is trying to forbid school teachers from condemning Nazism, calling it "unacceptable political indoctrination". Which formally makes sense, as Nazis are an official party in the parliament, and schools need to stay neutral. Thats the sort of paradoxes you get if you tolerate Nazis.

In this case a mathematician called Kevin Hayes Wilson seems to be behind these lexicon entries. As observed, they are only submitted via his PDS, these lexicons are not official US government ones. Sadly the UFO tool does not show this. PDSls does.

Fun new variant on my pelican riding a bicycle SVG benchmark by BeetleB, who instead used "Write a POV-Ray file that shows a pelican riding on a bicycle" to get ray-traced pelicans: blog.nawaz.org/posts/2025/O...

Claude Opus 4: 3D scene. The bicycle has a sort of square frame in the wrong place, but good wheels. The pelican is stood on top - a large white blob, a smaller white blob head, a cylinder neck and a conical beak in the right place, plus legs that reach out-of-place pedals. A egg floats mysteriously in front of the bird.

GPT-5: The bike is a bit mis-shapen but has most of the right pieces. The pelican has legs that reach the pedals and is bending forward with a two-segmented neck and a good beak. A weird egg floats in the front wheel.
