Frosty Jake @frostyjake.bsky.social · 10/04/2026I know there's a flu going around in Toronto, because the Longos underneath First Canadian Place (Bay St office building) is all out of "immunity" juice shots and running low on Ginger-Turmeric juice shots 000
Frosty Jake @frostyjake.bsky.social · 29/01/2026Do you not consider it evil to intentionally look away and not prioritize that problem? Don't gas companies and governments have a moral responsibility to strongly prioritize solving those complex problems? 3/3 010
Frosty Jake @frostyjake.bsky.social · 29/01/2026I've been contemplating this all day. I keep coming back to Spider-man. "With great power comes great responsibility." I agree, complex problems don't always mean evil motives. However, if someone has the power and capability to solve a problem, specifically one that harms others... 2/3 100
Frosty Jake @frostyjake.bsky.social · 29/01/2026@hankgreen.bsky.social I can't recall which video exactly, but a theme I've noticed in your videos lately is that 'problems being complex' sometimes gets incorrectly translated into 'companies and people are evil for not solving these faster.' I believe it was a longer form video on gas and oil. 🧵/3 110
Frosty Jake @frostyjake.bsky.social · 26/12/2025I feel like now is more important than ever to prioritize learning quality engineering and understanding what makes good code and bad code (as well as understanding why) 000

Frosty Jake @frostyjake.bsky.social · 22/10/2025That's how image classification works though, it's a form of machine learning. You could repackage it and say it uses statistics and image data, but it's still under the umbrella of AI. I'm not aware of any other tools or software paradigms that would enable them to do this. 040

Frosty Jake @frostyjake.bsky.social · 23/07/2025There's been a slow shift in expectations in QA over the years to produce test automation with little to no effort to compensate or upskill workers. Kinda sucks. Basically expecting CS grad level of knowledge, but paying shit salaries and pressuring aging staff. 000

Frosty Jake @frostyjake.bsky.social · 26/04/2025Shows some legitimacy to your efforts and interest in the field. It's more about the fact that you took some time to code and deploy it (assuming it looks and behaves presentably). If it has some really impressive projects, posts, whatever, then that's even better 020
Frosty Jake @frostyjake.bsky.social · 16/04/2025Good to know the QA experience is universal. Same thing happens in web development testing. We're allotted x days to test new features. Devs go late, we now have 1 day to test. "This isn't enough time" "we'll fix it next sprint, don't worry", followed by "how did QA miss this??" 010
Frosty Jake @frostyjake.bsky.social · 15/04/2025I wonder if they'll build it on one of the existing protocols or do it proprietary 020
Frosty Jake @frostyjake.bsky.social · 11/04/2025I suppose it makes the movie more money if crowds of people are attending to do ridiculous stuff. He possibly doesn't really have much of an incentive to discourage it 080
Frosty Jake @frostyjake.bsky.social · 10/04/2025It's interesting observing where they try to get away with labeling everything as AI too. My mom told me that an AI transcribed her zoom meeting. I'm sure they use machine learning to convert speech to text, but in the past we would have just called it software. It's a useful tool, but still. 010

Frosty Jake @frostyjake.bsky.social · 22/02/2025Do people consider coding something like an online matrix calculator too simple of a project (multiplication, gaussian elimination, etc)? Where's the line between practical portfolio and cute little toy? 000
Frosty Jake @frostyjake.bsky.social · 04/02/2025It's very possible that Disney believes this is not AI art because the artists are lying to them. 041
Frosty Jake @frostyjake.bsky.social · 13/01/2025He's right about Apple, but he's right about tech devices in general, especially mobile ones. They've nailed the designs pretty well. Focus is on software and squeezing people with subscriptions now. 111

Frosty Jake @frostyjake.bsky.social · 18/12/2024Gotta always challenge your assumptions when programming. "Why's my query failing? Surely it can't be because no one on our QA team hasn't updated the db credentials in over a year." That was exactly it. I spent a couple hours debugging to just discover the credentials were incorrect. 000
