I love the patterns in cast iron lace but these beauties stood out in their contrasting colour. Sulphur crested cockatoos perhaps? Seen in Ascot Vale, lovely restored Victorian house.

I don’t have many accessories in the collection, because I’m mostly about dresses, but couldn’t resist this darling that came from the estate of an elegant Italian lady who modelled professionally in the 1970s. I love its chunkiness.

Here's another 1960s dress- Mary Quant's 1962 Stampede Dress. The A-lined dress has four big asymmetrical decorative buttons that fasten the front wrap to the rest of the dress. It's one of Quant's early works- exemplified through the relatively long skirt length. #Fashionhistory

I’m pretty proud of my Marilyn Monroe piece, where I tried to convey the fullness of someone’s pain and genius without reducing her to either. Here is the photo of her that I describe in the last paragraph. www.bookforum.com/print/3204/b...
Marilyn Monroe from the chest up, naked except for a string of beaded costume jewelry draped across one shoulder, holding a champagne coup to her face and grinning.THERE IS A RUMOR—a piece of gossip, as it were—that for a woman, being sexually attractive is a source of power. There are straight men who will insist on this, telling you that their much younger girlfriends control them totally with the force of their bodily appeal; some feminists, too, have taken up feminine wiles as a potential source of women’s advancement and self-defense. Marilyn’s life can be read as a test of this thesis. By the dint of her genius and the force of her will, she made herself into a synonym for sex itself. Did it get her what she wanted?
