🧵 When a production leaves this country, the movie still gets made. The stars still work. The crew is who gets left behind. Today, I brought every major production union and nine of my colleagues to Glendale to say enough.

Bring this up at trivia night: Roughly 34% of LA County is protected public land, which helps ensure we’re never too far away from the great outdoors. The challenge that falls on us now is to safeguard these lands. (1/2)

I got the chance to visit Grindr’s headquarters in my district to talk to leadership and staff about my work in Congress, especially when it comes to protecting my LGBTQ constituents. I’m always going to stand up to protect my LGBTQ constituents from hatred and discrimination.

Today, we celebrate the signing of the U.S. Constitution 239 years ago and the rights granted to all American citizens under our Constitution. Those rights and the values they represent have made America a guiding light to the world, and I will fight to defend them every day.

Today, we remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and the bravery of the first responders who heeded the call for help. We must never forget them and all of the families who suffered from this attack in the months and years that followed.

Los Angeles wildfire victims have now had the longest wait for federal aid after a major disaster — ever. That’s a record this administration should be deeply ashamed of. I spoke with fire victims & Dept. of Angels, a community-led organization founded after last year’s fires to support victims.

There’s a boxcar on the new grounds at Holocaust Museum LA, one of the cars that carried Jewish people to the Majdanek death camp. You can walk right up to it and think about the people who were forced inside, who had no idea where they were going and no way to get out.

91 years ago today, a stroke of a pen created the promise that if you work hard & contribute a little every year, you will have support in retirement. Today, Congressional Republicans are trying to reneg on this commitment, robbing countless hardworking Americans this part of the American Dream.

Disasters don’t discriminate by party affiliation; but Trump does. I don’t care if you’re a Republican, Democrat, or unaffiliated. When Americans need help after a disaster, our government’s only question should be: “How can we help?”

I didn’t go to the UK or anywhere overseas to pursue my career in the film industry. I came to Hollywood, because the writers, talent, and creative heartbeat of America are here. It still is. But we need a national film tax credit to keep the industry home where it belongs.
