I dunno if "... well, we have 35 minutes left if you have any questions?" is a good thing or a bad thing when doing some sort of "can you write code?"/"can you design a basic system?" test. The prompt was pretty simple for both parts, and I passed all of the secret tests with basic defensive code 😓

It was the capacitor... replaced under warranty because it HASN'T BEEN 2 YEARS SINCE LAST TIME. Not sure how the not-even-10-year-old AC dies all the time but this is the 3rd capacitor, it tried to burn the house down by melting the cutoff box, and I don't remember what the other problem we had was.

Interviews shortly, s t r e s s e d. Applied to many hundreds of jobs - 4 screening calls, 1 disastrous* set of interviews so far 🫠 * "I would do X but I'd have to look up the docs to refresh my memory" was the wrong answer, they wanted "I'd use AI!" and it was all downhill from there
