In the VENUS project, fetuin-A treatment reduced or delayed #calcification on bioprosthetic #heart valve materials in selected lab tests. These findings support further #research under more realistic conditions before potential #applications can be evaluated. 🧪

As part of the "EBeA" project, we're working with @tubaf.bsky.social to develop and test new zirconium carbide (ZrC) heating elements — a first for high-temperature furnaces. TU Bergakademie Freiberg is also developing a vacuum furnace reaching up to 2,500 °C without a water-cooled double jacket. 🧪

Seed #germination is key for yield. In the Bio-LSP project we use laser speckle photometry to assess seed viability fast, contactless and non-destructively. 🧪 Our goal: a robust #sensor for rapid #seed release and shorter cycles from sowing to harvest.

🧪 Energy far from the sun: In the ESA project SOCRATES, we develop an SOFC based power system for deep space missions together with @esa.int and @tudresden.bsky.social. In February, an ESA team visited IKTS to inspect and approve the new test stand for the SOFC demonstrator developed at IKTS.

Letzte Woche wurde der Thüringer Innovationspreis 2025 verliehen. 🏆 Auch wenn wir nicht gewonnen haben, ist die Nominierung unserer SOEC-Pilotanlage mit thyssenkrupp nucera eine tolle Anerkennung unserer Arbeit. Wir forschen weiter mit voller Energie an der Industrialisierung der SOEC-Technologie. 🧪
