i don't necessarily know what the future looks like, but getting shit done with agents can be as rewarding as coding in R. i also think it frees up time for the more human things that i missed & didn't realize it because i was so stuck in my coding console.

in my time away, i started using hermes agent for side projects outside of work. when i returned to work, i really had a sense of how to use codex to its fullest potential. at least i thought. currently i use positron ide, but with 3 side-by-side terminals for almost every project.

i started learning R around 2016. at that time, i had experience in Python, C, & Fortran. I needed something that could get shit done, that was R. I've spent 10 years getting better at it. but @wesmckinney.com's keynote resonated with me. I've written very little code in 2026..
