Man, I have weird feelings about LLMs. I hate so much about it and yet I enjoy using it. But I also hate using it. But I love some of what it's enabled for me. I hate that I love that. It's going to take my job. It can't do my job. I'm elated about the future. I'm depressed about the future.

I want to play with GPT-6 so bad, I also need to write more about my experience using Hermes agent and model delegation.

I picked up one of these for travel and it’s weird and awesome: a.co/d/07YujRCI Fully mechanical which is nice. Otherwise a Nuphy Air3 or honestly a Magic Keyboard isn’t bad. Logitech Keys to Go was a solid choice but I’m not sure it still exists.

My cat has never fixed a StoreKit edge case. @revenuecat.com has. It handles purchases, validation, entitlements, and subscription data so developers can get back to the part users see. Now they’re backing Swiftsonic, with @mattheaney23.bsky.social in our Headliner lineup.

For cron jobs I use a local Qwen 3.6-35B-A3B model. GPT 5.6-Sol handled the Hermes Agent setup but now it and Opus 5 act as planners and reviewers. I barely touch my subs after this and can get by easily with the $20 subs on both. Open Code Go is $10 a month.

Frank Foster @frankefoster.com · 16/08/2026

Gotta give Deepseek v4 Flash 0731 a try. I have an OpenCode Go subscription and it's the backbone of my Hermes Agent. 80% of my work goes through it and it delegates up automatically to the frontier models. 700 Million tokens through it and have only used 11% of my monthly usage.

Do you mean October 2026?

000

Frank Foster @frankefoster.com · 29/07/2026

Ok here is the real question. For a busy dad and developer who barely has time to work on his own apps and show them off meaningfully: how do you also be your own business manager, marketer, blog writer, designer, and work a full time job?

Frank Foster @frankefoster.com · 20/07/2026

I’ve used three of my banked resets this week alone doing Hermes Agent setup and long form changes. 😅

So here is a fun brain teaser for everyone: How do you share how much of an awesome engineer and all the side projects you do without playing the social media game? Asking for a friend.

120

Frank Foster @frankefoster.com · 08/07/2026

Every time I go to respond to something on social media I end up deleting my response because holy shit there is no reason to reply to 90% of the things people flop out of their brains.

Thinking about creating a bot to request Apple make Apple Passwords for Linux. I don't want to switch to a different client and having to manually type stuff in on CachyOS is a PITA. Come on Apple! Make it happen!

The worst part of coming home after WWDC is partially writing a blog post about your experience but not know what to write because you have so much to say.

Got some extra cash left from WWDC? Probably not! But hey, if you want to support Step Into Vision we could certainly use it

032

Frank Foster @frankefoster.com · 14/06/2026

Small recommendation is to try CachyOS over Pop. Pop is essentially still in beta with its new COSMIC interface and Cachy is super optimized while still providing great support.

I had an amazing week for #wwdc and hosting CommunityKit! I met so many amazing people and was so charged up by the week that I'm going into a deep coma while I process everything. I'm hoping to get a blog post up about my experience soon!

#wwdc bound for CommunityKit! So excited for an AWESOME week up ahead!

Frank Foster @frankefoster.com · 05/06/2026

I'm going to have to pull you aside and chat LLMs/AI tooling with you sometime during the week - sadly I have to leave early on Thursday so I won't make it to AiOS :(

Frank Foster @frankefoster.com · 02/06/2026

I’ve been messing around with it a bit. The orchestration and Kanban board features are great, especially when you mix local and frontier models. I’m still in the middle of working with it but so far it’s neat.

I wanted to get my long form thoughts out in the world, something to share and deliver for everyone to see. Socials are all well and good, but honestly it takes a lot of engage on those platforms - so it's time to blog it up! Any feedback on the site you can send me via the "contact" page or here!

Alrighty it's time! I've updated my website, added some of my new projects and over all ✨streamlined✨ everything so it looks great! In addition to that, I've written my first blog post! You can find it here: www.frankefoster.com/blog/fir...

I've been quiet lately because life is insane but I'm also working on a number of side projects. Just a give a few sneak peeks: - Not one, but 6 apps!!! 🎶🎮🕹️📺📁💡 - Updates to Sage RPG and my personal site 📖 - A new website idea 👾 - CommunityKit 2.0 🧑‍💻 And lots more going on!

I agree with your statement but the game was built with both perspectives in mind. The developers gave both options so as far as I’m concerned that is the intended model they chose to use. With that said the right side looks like ass and I don’t want it in my games.

Frank Foster @frankefoster.com · 15/03/2026

I use Narwhal on iOS and use multi reddits and some clever trimming of politics to curate my experience. I have a doomscroll politics multireddit and a fun time computers and hobbies. Seems to do the trick.

I was considering something like the Emporia Vue and piping that to Home Assistant. Bypasses their app and stores data locally.

Claude + Home Assistant is also super powerful. It can help debug and fix automations which is 90% of the pain points I have with HA

Also Portainer is the first thing I install afterwards because it has a nice feature filled GUI for controlling the containers I can access from anywhere on my network.
