Rare coding variation implicates thirteen genes in bipolar disorder across 232,536 individuals from global populations
Bipolar disorder (BD) is highly heritable, yet the contribution of rare coding variation remains incompletely characterized. We analyzed sequencing data from 64,435 individuals with BD and 168,101 con...

Menninger and other psychoanalysts of the mid-20th century had a right idea on two issues: 1. psychopathology is not discontinuous or discrete, and 2. processes underlying the symptom matter.

AI this, AI that... Academia needs to ask itself one simple question: should we prioritize productivity or learning?! If we want to prioritize productivity, then AI must be integrated at every level of academic work.

Depressingly there is more talk in many places about race and ethnicity, and how certain visible characteristics - most obviously skin colour - define people. This is squarely in the identity discussion; ie, people defining their own identity via these visible characteristics

Recent funding cuts have affected all levels of science, but as we learned from the effects of the pandemic, early career researchers are likely to be the most vulnerable.
Recent funding cuts have affected all levels of science, but as we learned from the effects of the pandemic, early career researchers are likely to be the most vulnerable. In addition to job insecurity and loss of support for scientific research, these cuts have the potential to affect longer-term career plans, trajectories, plans, potential breakthroughs, not to mention effects on mental health. ASF and the Broad Institute are collecting data to demonstrate the effects of these cuts. If you're an early-career researcher, we want to hear from you. Please take this survey and help us advocate for restored funding and support. Click here: https://redcap.partners.org/redcap/surveys/?s=TDLHE3PTT3R87FX8

#CPConf2025 was a blast, so many cool talks and posters. Shout-out to the organizers for selecting our EHR symposium and to the EHR team for helping me put it together! Special thanks to Greta, Itunu, Lea*, and Julia* (*who could not make it to Tübingen) for making this symposium a reality.

Hmm. Not sure that decoupling dissemination and peer review is ideal. Arguably, it's one of the greatest drawbacks of *rxiv approaches.

Dune: Prophecy Episode 1.1: 8/10 The show seems to have a lot of potential. The acting is good, the visuals are great, the plot is intriguing. The pacing is dynamic, but not excessively so. Looking forward to the rest of the season. #SciFi
