Currently I.N.J. Culbard (who I will not tag because shy…)
A page from 2000 AD’s Brink.
Written by Dan Abnett, art by I.N.J. Culbard and lettering by Simon Bowland. There’s a big creepy space eye.

I went int with the same trepidation, but essentially I love spending time with these characters. Even if it’s a radio interview or a DVD commentary, I’ll take what I can get. Also I may have squealed (manfully) in the cinema when Jean Cromie reprised her role in the opening sequence!
Heavy metal unites the people with the players - Jean Cromie as the Ethereal Fan, This is Spinal Tap.

Resident Evil was a lot of fun! See it in the cinema where you can hear everyone else laughing nervously around you…

Someone apologise to Alice for me, I didn’t really expect her to rise to the Maiden-in-pop-culture challenge but she did and it was triffic! And, fyimi, Shaun Hutson has written a BILLION horror novels and I haven’t read one that didn’t have a character in an Iron Maiden t-shirt.

Do they use any pre-recorded backing tracks? Or is that one of the band coming in with a re-orienting backing vocal?

Can’t wait for a time when it won’t be topical to post this.
From Preacher by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillion. Jesse Custer confronts a white supremicist, saying “How is it the greatest champions of the white race always turn out to be the worst examples of it? You! WHERE THE FUCK IS YOUR CHIN?”

I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess you mean 1999? I can show you ‘32 and ‘59 too but I’m being toxically withholding. 😏💅 Rated PG-13 for violence and cursed evil doings!

Biggest shock on this page is that they only gave two stars to (checks notes) … Replikator: Cloned to Kill…
A four star review for the ‘Wild, weird and unpredictable’ 1984 movie Repo Man. Directed by Alex ‘Moviedrome’ Cox and starring Emilio Estevez and Harry Dean Stanton as a couple of melon farmers.

Apple Music hates this album so much it just threw away track 2.
An Apple Music track list from the Genesis album Calling All Stations which jumps straight from track 1 to track 3, eschewing track 2, ‘Congo’.

My mum sent me a Mother’s Day card I made for her as t least twenty years ago?
A 15 panel comic shows me walking in the street. Looking in a shop window I see a rack of Mother’s Day cards. In a thought bubble, I see my mother. I imagine her happy, receiving a card. I check my pockets but I have no money. I imagine my mum being sad and conclude that I have no choice but to steal a card. I am immediately set upon by vicious security guards who beat me to a bloody pulp. Police lights flashing, I am taken to the police station where cops also beat me with sticks. Based on a true story. The interior of the card reads ‘Happy now?’ But the ‘Now?’ is scribbled out and replaced with Mother’s Day and ‘love from Andrew’ in a broken fingered scrawl. The back page shows a gaunt royal talking to a tree. He says ‘I may be skinny but I’m still sovereign - and don’t you forget it, tree.’ The tree replies ‘okay.’
The caption reads ‘Thin King of Yew.’

Watched Disney’s The Black Hole (1979) for the first time since I saw it at the cinema on its original release. I really only remembered it as cheap and clunky (which I still loved as a kid) but WOW! Some of the visuals are above and beyond and put me in mind of Saul Bass.
The deck of the SS Cygnus, blue and orange planets visible through enormous windows, robotic humanoids in silhouette…Globules of superheated plasma crashing into the Cygnus as both cross the event horizon and are sucked into the black hole The crew of the Palomino run across a long gantry as an Indiana-Jones-boulder-sized fireball bears down on themIn the heart of the black hole, the robot Maximilian is consigned to Hell

But then there’s no more albums until 1997 when the label releases The Best of Zodiac Mindwarp and it’s LITERALLY JUST THEIR FIRST ALBUM WITH THE COVER CROPPED. Nothing from the second album or any EP, just the exact tracks from Tattooed Beat Messiah. Never seen that with any other band. 🤷‍♂️ fin.

Watched Event Horizon last night. When I first saw it decades ago, I hated it. What was I thinking? Some clunky dialogue, some ropey CGI, but worth it for the production design alone. It’s a three-star movie but it’s a four-star three-star movie.
