print quality wasn't the greatest on the badge, so here's a clean capture. proud of how it turned out for a 4am doodle lol

still a few finishing touches hardware-wise I need to do, but done!

industrial baby-AT form factor computer, with 5.25-inch and 3.5-inch floppy drives. the power LED is pink, the HDD LED is ultraviolet

probably used as an example problem in some CS courses I guess?? it being at the very end of the section it's in kinda makes up for its inclusion being weird

in testing the build I just found out my game runs with only 4MB RAM. huh.

ko² @foxgirl.systems · 04/10/2026

it's weird too because they have a bandcamp, but it's missing most of their LPs (the streaming-exclusive ones). let me give you guys moneyyyy

apparently I have enough parts lying around to build up a baby AT system or two... maybe tomorrow

these ultra disgusting yet interesting keyboards need to stop finding me. they take so much time to clean...

020

ko² @foxgirl.systems · 04/10/2026

this keyboard was offloaded onto me and I was going to put it in the vcf free pile, until I tested one of the keys and noticed it was mechanical... pics don't show it well, but it's *very* UV-damaged. might be the most yellow "beige" device I have

very filthy beige keyboard, keycaps removed. blue alps switches are visible

beige keyboard, now clean (but still yellowed from UV damage)

ko² @foxgirl.systems · 03/10/2026

so this keyboard has some competition from a keyboard I'm cleaning right now in terms of which was more disgusting beforehand. I can't tell

got the numbers: old server draws 160W at idle, new server draws 60W at idle. pretty good improvement 25W is used by just the drives alone

server/NAS disks moved in, everything works! size comparison with the old server; I should do an energy use comparison too

I didn't daisy-chain off the factory SATA power cable though, I really doubt it'd be able to carry 4 drives worth of current safely. so now I know how to terminate micro-fit connectors

1100

ko² @foxgirl.systems · 01/10/2026

for those who've never looked inside a SFF PC: these usually give you like... 2 SATA power connectors to work with. this only had 1 so I had to, uh, "Improvise"

does this void dell's warranty (semi-serious question)

3D render of a mountainous island. A pearlescent sky reflects off the water with various large glass structures dotting the island.

learned last night that the hard drive was replaced with a CF adapter. would've saved a couple days had I known that 🫠 still want to replace it with an M.2 adapter. theoretically an iflash one would work, but the ribbon to 40pin adapter they sell is at the wrong angle...

(I know net cafes existed over here before smartphones became widespread, but I've always been under the impression that they were way less prevalent here than in other countries)

ko² @foxgirl.systems · 28/09/2026

something I started noticing even before the recent computer component price hikes hit is that gaming net cafes are kinda becoming a thing in the US. I wonder if those are going to keep growing

like yeah themes are great, miss those being commonplace. but I feel like being able to manipulate the layout of a program to suit your workflow, even if it's just toolbars, is something that should've stuck around?

ko² @foxgirl.systems · 25/09/2026

customizing winxp's file explorer got me thinking about toolbar-based interface design. why did everybody (except Qt devs) move away from that? being able to rearrange buttons, split and group them, choose between labels or icons or both... it's an old aspect of customization people tend to overlook

ko² @foxgirl.systems · 25/09/2026

"why would you want to go with 2k over xp" I saw explorer take like a full minute to come up after logging in just now. I don't think this thing is "Designed for Windows XP" like the sticker says

oc girl 3d !?!?

fds_oc - a render of (a 3d model of) my furry oc fox girl. She is smiling at the camera with one eye closed and the other open, and waves with one arm while the other is down.

another render of furry oc girl. This time she's sitting on her knees with her hands in her lap. She's smiling and looking at the camera with a slight tilt to her head while her tails are beside her. Also, she's got a bit more fat than she has in the other images.

yet another render of 3d oc girl. This time she's sitting on the blender default cube with one leg crossed over the other. She's leaning on her knee with one of her arms with her head propped up with a somewhat somber expression. The lighting is also more dramatic or whatver you call it, basically the light that was to her right and with less power is now the only one shining.

no way... a fourth render of oc girl?? indeed it is. This time she's standing on one foot with the other back. She's got a big smile on her face and has both her hands out, each with a "peace" (v) gesture.
