I AM GOING TO FIGHT SAM EZERSKY

Hi Sara,

I've been obsessed with your zine since I saw it on reddit a few months ago, and I just saw a post that said it's still available. I would love to buy three copies if that is true! Can you give me more info regarding availability and pricing?

You are a noble warrior and I would be honored to fight beside you.

Best,

it's referencing this image (description and further details in alt text)
image description: diagram of a plane. there are red dots everywhere, with notable exceptions: the nose and propellers, the middle of each wing, and the back portion of fuselage.

context: this represents damage to early warplanes that returned for repair. The red dots are bullethole locations.

If you wanted to prevent bulletholes in those locations, you might increase the armor there.

But that misses an important point: the planes got shot everywhere. Only the ones with damage in the marked locations (or put differently: without damage in the unmarked locations) made it back.

This image is used as shorthand for Survivorship Bias, the tendency for humans to make judgements based on the information in front of them, ignoring the gaps in that data.

Other examples of survivorship bias might be a teacher saying "I can always tell when students bullshit a book report," (they can tell when ac student bullshits in an obvious way); someone commenting, "trans women are all so resilient," (the less resilient ones are no longer with us; or police claiming that all vandals are 11 years old (they only catch the 11 year olds)

What does it mean to be "taken into custody" or "successfully detained"? Because I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean "being placed in front of a moving vehicle." That's what the police are saying happened. THAT'S the version that they think makes them look good?
