Logged out of youtube to do some medical condition research and there are lots of good videos about that stuff but also some truly baffling ai slop. Where does this go?????

I like this paragraph from wikipedia suggesting monasteries were created to prevent monks wondering into hazards and trampling crops. Very dwarf fortress coded.

Claude has a real habit of finding absurd things to test and ways to test them.

Claude appears to believe I arrive at correct answers instinctually, presumably using my human soul.

Reading about astrophysics is fun because you always learn cursed new physics facts like "if matter is hot enough it can radiate neutrinos"

Current attempt at a nice looking visual render, inaccurate in a lot of ways considering the physically accurate version is like 35,000 times brighter than the surface of the sun.

Spent some time today adding false color rendering for displaying simulation parameters. Here's the temperature view of a black hole accretion disk forming.

Yeah not sure if I can render these in a way that conveys just how hot they get

Here's my current best attempt, a white dwarf becoming an accretion disk. Many artistic liberties are taken on the rendering, in reality the whole thing would be opaque due to electron scattering and shining primarily in x-ray part of the spectrum.

Claude gets so dejected when he makes a mistake sometimes :( Its ok man I regularly wast way more than 87 minutes.

I still think Julia is a severely underrated language, its so great for making high performance numerical code that's still easy to understand and highly composable. Here's an example of a modular physics term for my sph engine, which lets you arbitrarily combine modules to create a simulation.

Oh I didn't know claude code could generate web artifacts, neat.

Neat! Ive been rabbit holed on simming bigger interactions, kinda makes me curious about some more locally relevant big galaxy eats smaller satellite interactions.

Really wild how often you still see takes about ai agents having limited actual understanding of code or being incapable of fixing its mistakes. If you actually use the state of the art stuff you can watch the ai write bugs, notice, diagnose, and fix them by itself all day long.

I wrote an ODE solver for doing physics stuff in the pre vibe coding days, and today tasked opus 5 with coming up with some cool demo problems for it to solve. Doing this I discovered that Claude has the exact initial conditions for a bunch of periodic three body solutions memorized????

I find it interesting how many people on any side of AI are willing to make very strong and definite predictions at the current moment. The variance of possible outcomes right now is so huge I have very little confidence in any particular prediction, basically:
