That’s an interesting point. 100milers are my new boogie man for sure. I feel comfortable with 50milers now. I think you’re right, once you have a few done you know what to expect and what your fitness is.

That was a foolishly arrogant position I took, and the race gleefully reminded me of my foolishness. 200 participants, 126 finishers. It’s a hard course and the final cutoff is a bit tight for many back of packers.

Had 5x5 VO2 hills scheduled while in Paris Instead of letting it go did the session after a 10k with colleagues As a hilly trail runner had to hold 6:30/mi - 4:00/km on the flat to hit VO2 Not since Jan run that pace Ankle sore took couple days Good SWAP pods keeping spirit up #running #runsky

Nothing like a good fuck up to make you pay attention Cutting the last bay window and was in lala land and cut the bloody mullions (the middle vertical pieces that separate the window panes) a couple mm too narrow So now have to glue and clamp a bloody slip of wood to each and let dry 🙈

Yes it’s defo tricky. For me my ego and excitement gets in the way a bit I ran my spring road ultra way to fast once my legs loosened up even though I promised myself I would run it like a “long run” Then had to take a recovery week cause a 60k road run for a trail runner wrecks the ol legs.

Fatigue is good means your training is wearing your system down But the magic isn’t in the work it’s in the recovery! Make sure to have a down weeks every 4 weeks or so where you reduce either intensity or volume so your body can “adapt” to the new stresses you put on it

Yea agree with Ben - there is something easier about just going to the end and something way harder about hitting that loop and knowing you need to go again. I have a really hard vert loop I do in training and more than once I’ve gotten to bottom of third loop looked up and just said - “can’t”
