Google finally updated some of its satellite images of Gaza and my god, it's horrific. The entirety of Rafah has been demolished. The majority of Khan Younis is in ruins. Entire towns completely leveled and erased of the map.

Again this is kind of why Prolific will actually become more important as we move forward. We need ways to verify and access high quality HUMANS.

Conversely, I would actually not be surprised if this were a false positive. Several folks have attempted to find a correlation between self-reported (general) stress and biomarkers, and the associations are poor.

It's def. an interesting study, but to your point, I never understand why people take the risk on a study like this. N = 24 is so small, I dont even know why they did this in the first place? It also raises really big power questions; did they peek while collecting data?

1/ What is the prevalence of personally identifiable information (PII) in author-collected data publicly shared in the social sciences? We audited 327 replication packages from 11 leading journals in economics, political science, and psychology Answer: surprisingly high 🧵

I actually one use this ^ right now, but ideally I see many room for it to go wrong. the whole thing is held up by one person, and it cotsts a lot for them. it would be nice to get more "formal" programs to support this feature.

Question: Have you run into problems with blinding your repo? I know you can rename your authors, but the GH link is still visible, and can be used to track the account. Have you found any solutions/tips?

I'm just convinced mediation models are (practically) not that meaningful. At the end of the day, we likely want to see if (1) this indirect association works longitudinally AND (2) whether it is a within-person process. (almost) No one does the latter.

Honestly if you follow and like a bunch of posts that are research relevant to you, I get some pretty good recs. Takes a while. You need to build good connections! Matters there a lot more than here. Do NOT accept every connection offer.

Currently working on a longitudinal paper, and am not finding any sig association between an internal stressor and alc, and thus had me thinking about the meta analysis and your paper/op-ed.

Finally had the time to read this paper. Overall I’m hearing heterogeneity is the next frontier for neg affect and ALC. Have you considered using latent class DSEM? Or even CT-SEM forests? Would be very interested to see what heterogeneity can be identified.

Need help: If the problem is that someone did have access to data, wouldn’t you still rather have Stage 1 review than not? Part of RR is for authors AND reviewers. Isn’t the value of blinding results to reviewers still notable? The merits of proposed study is evaluated.

One of my BIGGEST frustrations: AI-generated images of HUMANS. Just use freely available stock photos!! It's so disgusting to create images of people that are just not real. Makes me sick 🤢

Safe to say, it is a total frenzy right now. I have an existing OSF repo for an R&R right now, so I likely will have to transition to something else.

It would be really nice if #ICPSR allowed for double-blind. I can't imagine it would be too hard.

I think most R code can be saved on GitHub, and data should go towards ICPSR or Zenodo.

Over the next several months, we will phase out some popular OSF features. These changes do not affect current public content, which remains safe and accessible. We have prepared support material to help users adapt. I am very sorry for the disruption to your work. Please read this post for details.

A little bit of both authors and reviewers. But I agree, I’m not a fan of “prospective” just because it’s been used so inconsistently in longitudinal research. I do think prospective fits better because we didn’t control for outcome at baseline (so not “lagged” association either). 🤷‍♂️

I'd be curious to know your thoughts on using Quarto Books as a data cleaning workflow. It's something I'm trying for our latest study for the first time. Each chapter is its own phase. It can be rendered as a website for documentation/github.
