I am happy to share our latest manuscript, led by newly-minted PhD Justin Wang, identifying a neural population that selectively controls hedonic, but not homeostatic, feeding. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Ventral pallidal GABAergic neurons control hedonic feeding and obesity
Food intake is governed by two interacting drives. The homeostatic hunger drive regulates food intake to fulfill caloric needs while the hedonic drive promotes intake of palatable foods outside of cal...

1/8 🧵 Breaking: Groundbreaking study drops in Psychedelics! Psilocybin's effects on social behavior & inflammation in female mice modeling anorexia nervosa? TOTALLY context-dependent on metabolism & exercise. Explains why only ~40% respond in human trials. Implications for personalized therapy!

After a busy semester of teaching it is so nice to be at the Biological Psychiatry Australia Conference. First up today is @foldi.bsky.social and team with the development of a 'library of animal models', which sounds like a fantastic resource for researchers studying clinical symptoms/disorders

Incredibly proud of @kxhuang.bsky.social for persisting with such a challenging dataset from her PhD! We found some intriguing genetic targets in a corticostriatal circuit that may be involved in the development of #anorexia nervosa 🤔 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...
