Is word-of-machine a thing yet to replace word-of-mouth? Because if I hear another word-of-machine, I’m gonna punch them in the mouth.

Yeah just dealing with the resources and UI controls would suck. It would be a rewrite of the app. Ok so nevermind my suggestion. lol

I feel like implementing CoreGraphics as a pass thru to another vector drawing library on Linux wouldn’t be too hard. But I haven’t really looked into it

in honor of the IBM PC's 45th anniversary today, here is the original prototype motherboard! which side is your favorite?

a large prototyping circuit board with a grid of holes. it is covered with chips and red bypass capacitors soldered diagonally across many of the chips. you can tell it is a PC because of the 5 ISA slots and the keyboard connector.

the bottom of the board reveals a ratnest of yellow wires along with a few thicker blue and black wires, presumably for power and ground.

Yes this can be done but they don’t use radium anymore. I can’t remember what it’s called now but it can be painted on, works almost as well and is not radioactive.

They had live jazz and stuff but REM was there for dinner and was hanging around afterwards listening to said jazz. :) too small a venue for a band like that.

How do you edit ALT-TEXT? I'm reading this and it's very wrong on my part. The V shape wood is really an inverted V shape- and yeah there are two other beams of wood as well along the top. So yeah I suck at ALT-TEXT! But I like to think of it as a challenge to write tiny books about pictures.

ok one last suggestion then if you have a dark bag. You can crack the canisters in the bag and snip a piece of film from the leader and try to close the canisters again. If not just leave them in the bag until time for dev. Then you can look to see what each film base looks like from the snippets.

020

alex 🐰 @foinc.com · 14/05/2025

If you do it yourself, you might get lucky and develop the black and white film first. Then you will know which is which, and can send out the color roll...

220

alex 🐰 @foinc.com · 14/05/2025

well worst case you can get both rolls developed as black and white...

110

alex 🐰 @foinc.com · 14/05/2025

Just rewind the film as normal but use a film leader retriever to get just enough film out of the canister to see its color.

130

alex 🐰 @foinc.com · 14/05/2025

you could just take a tiny snip of the film leader or trailer and see if the base is orange-brown. If so it's most likely color film, otherwise it will be some shade of grey-purple.
