Sorry for the crude art here but this is truly a very collaborative piece here at the LA courthouse.

Here are the pics of the battery (see alt text for more info). Of note: The black wires have some sort of device attached to them that I can't see well as the wire bulks up and is covered in a shrink tubing before reaching the '-' negative terminals on the other side.
A bright green battery pack with a date code on it that reads 84-07. My guess is it was made in July 1984.Battery pack disassembled with the bottom facing up- There is a black thin fabric strap that is used to remove the battery across the bottom where the terminals are.Bottom of the battery pack. There are metal connectors that go from terminal to terminal. Most terminals are corroded with a white dust. In particular there are two terminals with a '-' minus sign on them. The two black wires connect to these respectively.A photo of the top of the battery pack. The terminals are mostly corroded. There are two red wires connected to corroded terminals on the top and two black wires that run between batteries to the other side. The black wires have some sort of device attached to them that I can't see well as the wire bulks up and is covered in a shrink tubing before reaching the '-' negative terminals on the other side.

This is what my battery looks like. Hope it helps.

How it started... how it's going:
Barn doors with where the paint has turned to a grey dust. The photo almost looks black and white.Refinished doors are a shiny dark oak/redwood color.

I'm finally finished! Here's a close up:
Closeup of the barn door's corner. You can see the metal brackets as well as the historic neighborhood plaque that is affixed to the door.

Spray painted the brackets black along with the bolt heads.
Metal brackets leaned up on cardboard which is leaned against the wall. There's also a grid like piece of styrofoam with roughly 30 bolts leaning up with spray painted black heads protruding from the styrofoam.

Stripped it to mostly metal:
A closeup of the metal bracket. The bracket is stripped almost to bare metal so it is shiny in places. The metal has been hammered to give it a texture.

And here is the second set to be refinished (before):
Metal brackets against cardboard, the brackets are not stripped yet.

Now one of the doors is completely finished! Just need to repeat the brackets and bolts for the other door.
Close up of one of the completed barn doors. The black metal brackets and door backs have been installed. This door is done!Close up of the artisanal metal bracket that re-enforces the door corners. The ends of the brackets are like stacked arrowheads that get progressively smaller, there are three of them on each end of the bracket. The bracket is a shiny black enamel finish.

I sanded down the brackets and bolts for one of the doors. Primed and painted them.

And then I reinstalled them:

So I finished painting the back panels of the doors
Thin plywood leaned up against a wall for painting. The surface is mostly stained except for bare wood near the bottom where you can't see the panel from the front.

Well we ended up having to evacuate last night. This is how close the sunset fire got to us:

View from the backyard. We aren’t that close to the fires and can’t smell them because of the high winds. Hoping we are spared.

Ok here’s the doors with the final coats on them. There are three primer coats and two top coats. All I need to do now is stain the back panels that go behind the slats and spray paint the artisanal brackets and reattach them.
Two old barn style doors that look fairly shiny from the stain. You can see thru the slats of the door to white cloth that was hung to prevent people from looking inside the garage. A bit of the driveway is reflecting in the doors.

Oh the amount of time spent in front of this door. Only a few more coats to go.
Me standing in front of the garage doors with very messy gray hair and a KN95 mask on.

And here’s both doors with the first coat. 5 hours of work.
Barn doors with one coat of stain on them. They are fairly dark because I think the wood is redwood. The frame is a different wood and is lighter with the stain. The stain is matte as it has been soaked up by the wood. The wood filler is very visible as it doesn’t take the stain well. The upper right hand door stain is still wet and shiny.

Finally making some visible progress. Here’s the first coat of stain (four more to go) on one of the two doors. Hopefully the additional coats will better hide the wood filler. It really stands out now.

Had a bit of an issue with the stain cracking on the third coat. Not sure why, usually this happens when you do thin over a thick layer. But this looks like the whole thing melted. Anyway I tried to sand it down to fix it. If you look in the lower right you can see the crackling and running. :(
A half sanded piece of thin plywood that has some stain that must have gotten too thick and ran slightly and then cracked. Looks like an antique painting.

Got the first coat of stain on the trim but ran out of time for today.

Here’s some close ups of the wood filling. I’m a bit worried it won’t hold the stain the same as the wood but tomorrow is finally when I start staining the outside of the doors. Excited to get this finished already.

I really should send you mine- it's sitting here ready to go. We originally had the "toaster" too which was a 5.25" drive that connected to the DataGeneral. Have no idea where that went...

I love those vanishing point pens- I have a few that I love- only the decimo is inked up at the moment however-
Four Pilot Vanishing point fountain pens on a black desk- A white with rhodium trim, blue and rhodium with trend print, green with matte black trim and a red decimo with rhodium trim. Vanishing point pens look like they are backwards, the nibs come out on the side where the clip is.

This band I went to see the other night released an album with a cover that is a PCB that’s a fully working synth. I bought the kit and built it. Here’s the first few seconds with it:

Well this is probably getting boring but here’s the second pass at patching holes and cracks. If this sands down nicely that will be the final machine sanding and then it’s hand sanding and finally stain.
Same garage doors with more traces of wood putty everywhere filing holes and cracks.

Here’s how it looks after sanding the patchwork

Yesterday I did a first pass at patching holes and cracks. Today I spent 4 hours sanding down the wood putty.

Here’s the work in progress. Mostly stripped and sanded. Just a bit more to go before I can stain it.

This is my latest project. The paint on these doors turned to a grey dust from the sun over the years. I’ve been stripping and sanding these 100 year old doors for over a month now. Will post an updated pic soon.
