Perks in games should compliment playstyles, not give free value that can win matches for doing absolutely nothing or the bare minimum. Skill should always come first but so many games pander to bad players which makes the actually competent ones essentially gods and extremely high ego.

Just had people on Reddit defend the Fallout 4 Brotherhood Of Steel and claim they are a morally grey faction despite them very openly wanting anything not strictly human dead, raiding and threatening local farms, and being largely authoritarian. Then they say other people lack media literacy.

Also ,while their statement is partially true, the world and gaming with it has gotten a lot more corporatized and focused on metrics which can definitely make games feel like they don’t have the same life and love put into them now. It’s like saying that old films are the same as new AI slop.

I mean, some of us have played and loved every Halo game. Not everyone is incapable of appreciating the media of their youth through a nuanced, mature lens. Being older doesn’t have to mean becoming joyless. Weird to see this idea pop up again and again (often in Star Wars circles). Just my 2 cents.

Paying the developers a percentage/bonus based on sales would be a win for consumers, developers, and management. The consumers get a better product because quality is tied to pay, the developers get fairly compensated, and management has to worry less about morale/micro-management.

Was less referring to the fact it has cheaters, since every multiplayer game unfortunately does now, but rather the extent to which cheaters can grief normal players without even getting into their lobby. Most games have strict validation that would prevent that within the first year.
