As far as upgrades over Luke Glendening go, Acciari checks basically all the boxes.

Like Glendening, Accardi is a righty shot centerman more than capable of playing the wing, and adept on faceoffs (53.3% since 2021). But he’s two and a half years younger than Glendening, scored 25 points last year (Glendening finished with just nine), has graded out as a much better even strength play-driver over the past few years, and even has the edge in physical play (Acciari has three seasons of 180 hits or more; Glendening has one).

If the Flyers want a chippy right-shot fourth liner to pair with Couturier to help on faceoffs and provide some offensive upside in the process? They could do a lot worse than Acciari.

Philadelphia Flyers forward Trevor Zegras is among the NHL’s more outgoing personalities. Subtlety isn’t really his thing.

Rick Tocchet was reminded of that earlier this month, when just before an off-day practice began on March 6 at the Flyers Training Center, Zegras had an overt suggestion, poorly disguised as a question, for his coach.

“I went up to him at practice like, ‘Hey, should I take some face-offs? Am I going to be playing some center?” Zegras recalled. “He was like, ‘No, you’re good.’”
