Pilot after pilot found the same pattern. Basic income let people take risks leading to better jobs and training. Working parents able to afford childcare could work toward promotions. Or drop multiple part-time jobs for one higher-paying full-time job.

"The most unsuccessful great idea in history" got a real test in Australia. Given the choice, 2/3 of home buyers picked land tax over stamp duty. Sounds like success to us. "That is real money for reducing stamp duty or income tax, which, to be clear, are far worse taxes."

We're taxing what people do earn from work MORE than what people don't earn from land. It's the opposite of what we should do and what's driving the housing crisis and poverty.

Bloomberg article makes the case for land value tax. "LVTs don't punish homeowners for construction, renovation, or improvement...they make underutilized land more expensive than productive land, encouraging development and deterring land speculation."

No amount of new homes will solve the financialization of housing. We should build way more supply, but it won't be nearly enough to overcome unlimited credit bidding up land values. Land value tax tackles financialization at its core.

South Korea's UBI pilot shows major success 1 year. Local businesses grew by 2,000 and rural population went up 4.7%. Most of the money was spent, causing "an increase in new businesses in essential services such as restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, and hair and beauty salons."

Alberta wants to build up their Heritage Fund to $250-400B by 2050. The right thing to do is pay everyone Alaska-style dividend cheques, for a very simple reason: it creates the missing link between citizens and their rights & duties as stewards of a shared natural inheritance.
