PITCH:
Tai’s terrified of humans. Everyone is. Violent pack hunters, humans are notorious for their strength, sharp teeth, and carnivorous appetites. But the ship’s cook is safe among the multispecies crew of the cargo hauler Coreward Baker: everyone knows the warrior species rarely leave their own space. Then Captain Raz hires Clarke, a human horticulturist.
Even after Tai overcomes their fear, they can’t stand Clarke. She’s bossy. Annoying. Useless in the galley, bad in a space suit. She might as well be cargo. Worse, she’s intent on befriending Tai—and why can’t they stop thinking about her, anyway?
That’s when things go wrong. As Tai starts to realize their feelings for Clarke, they’re horrified to learn that nobody on their crew of dropouts and runaways is quite who they seem, least of all Clarke. And it’s no coincidence. Raz reveals they’ve each been handpicked for a heist he’s spent years planning—and no one’s allowed to say no.

“Gross,” the speaker’s crewmate said, oblivious to my alarm. “I hope it leaves soon.”
“Don’t let it hear you say that,” the first worker laughed. She made a show of looking for Humans, her eyes darting from table to table.
It. I frowned. I knew the workers’ language distinguished between people and things, and ‘it’ was an unkind choice of words at best.
The second worker shuddered. “I don’t know why we let them come here.”
The first laughed. “Are you going to stop them?”

Three Friends, One "Love" Story
For a while, Anissa, Peyton and Charly were all each other had. Friendship is an
involuntary reflex. Eut as they keep aging out. of their twenties, doubts about their bond start to creep up.

Peyton seems to get nervous when Charly hugs him, and blushes scarlet when Anissa smiles at him. But that's stupid-right? Can you- even love-two people like-that. at the same time?

Anissa has secretly been binge-scrolling through aroace tumblr blogs for weeks now, it all seems to click, but she wants to be a mom, always has. Rahim from the marriage app is nice, but would he accept her?

Charly has no problem getting people heartbeats to pick up, but married life is not his thing. He just wants to write his scripts, marriage would just be a distraction.

Love is different for everyone, they might learn it the hard way though.

Charly’s POV: I think I just might be doomed, Iaccidentally and through no fault of my own, to get randoms to fall in love with me…. I fucking hate that.
I roll my eyes at the text on my phone’s screen, turn it off and then gaze back at the script in front of me. Babe is a couple’s monniker. A way for someone to claim you in the name of love, romantic love. We met for drinks and came back to my apartment for some light roleplay… once. Seriously? This is a fucking nightmare.

Anissa’s POV: “Yeah, it’s pretty big.” I agree. “But I think I’m ready, my bachelor’s will be ready next year, it will be my recovery anniversary around the same time and I…” I trail off. Then sigh again.
“I really want a baby.” There I said it.
I don’t expect any judgement from my best friend, nor anybody in my broader social circle for that matter. But it still feels weird to be so open about what I want. Maybe my therapist is right and I did build some protective walls around myself over the years… or something like that.
“You’l be an amazing mum,” Peyton says. Lightly punching my shoulder with affection, my heart does a bit of a summersault. “The world could use more of those.”

Peyton’s POV: Sure, I'm the bloke who lives in a trailer on the outskirts of the city, but it's mine. The apprenticeship degree does earn me money, aside from his gig at the local cafeteria, and music producing for movies is also the only career that doesn’t make him want to bang my head against a wall... I am also the bloke who needs to prove time and time again his rich family doesn’t want anything to do with him, nor with his disabled uncle (the only person in said family who treats me like an actual human being), so the government would also take a bit of pity on us and help us out.

I'm just Peyton, who loves his best friends more than anything and isn’t quite sure how he landed such amazing people. But dammit if he's not going to fight for them…

Akachi lay on her cell's bed with her eyes closed. She had a small braille device resting on her chest scrolling through text under her fingers. It was the novelization of the film RedNun Blue Nun 4: The Caskets of Captain Carter Candela.

Akachi's vision didn't work in her cell. Occasionally she thought she could see little flashes of light or color but she remembered the same from after the Hippolyta accident and before she got her new eyes. It was just her brain inventing signals it wasn't actually getting.

The bed was hard metal under a thin, cheap mattress and sheet. Her orange jumpsuit itched. She felt all of it a little more with her eyes off. She'd always been more aware of touch and sounds when her eyes were shut off for any reason. It had been over a week now. She hadn't been without her eyes in that long since the accident.

“No, no. Your Mom told me ‘no more Milton Smith’. She was very particular about it.” I wagged a finger in an imitation that my daughter would have slapped my hand for. My granddaughter found it delightful, clapped her little hands together while her younger brother threw a palm over his mouth to cover his chuckling.
“Now you two kids need to get some sleep. Maybe I’ll read you the one about the Barnowl. You love that one.”
The mirth stopped in a heart beat, two pairs of young blue eyes locked onto mine. I wondered if between the crevasses of time, they could still make out the mischievous twinkle that would give my game away.
My grandson looked stern, a pout on his lips. But his sister, quick as a bullet from a six shooter, had me pinned. She smiled triumphantly as she folded her arms, “You never listen to mommy. You promised.”
I cracked instantly, set myself with a groan into the creaky old wood chair. “It's a terrible song of metal, sand and blood. The Barn owl would be much nicer,” I argued with a half smile.
Two pouting faces were my reward. My grandson furrowed his little brow, “You said a story not a song Grampa.”
I shrugged. “Okay, okay, it's a story. Tuck yourselves in and let's go visit the tragedy of old Milton Smith. Yehaw

admit. I can get lost in the
whims of my brain as my
vocal chords turn those same
whims into words. As is
demonstrable by the fact it
takes me about ten seconds
