How do instruction dependencies affect parallel performance? #CPUs include multiple FUs. To maximize utilization, instructions assigned to them typically need to be independent. #FlowPPU supports dependent instructions through high-bandwidth intercommunication and sequential organization. #CPU #HPC

Why does synchronization matter in #ParallelComputing? As applications become more parallel, PEs need to coordinate w/ each other. This can introduce waiting time & reduce overall efficiency. #FlowPPU addresses this challenge by reducing the number of synchronization events & overlapping execution.

As applications become more parallel, factors like latency, congestion & memory coherence can influence throughput. #FlowPPU addresses these challenges. It's designed to tolerate memory latency, reduce idle time & provide coherent memory access to help sustain throughput during parallel execution.

How does #FlowPPU work? Explicitly parallel parts of a workload can be offloaded to it. Sequential execution continues on the #CPU, ooperating as a program. We use programming abstraction designed to support native & straightforward #ParallelProgramming, enabling sequential & parallel execution.

If adding more #CPU cores were enough a 96-core processor would deliver 96x. It rarely occurs. Our benchmark (96-core #AMDEPYCZen5 processor) shows performance across matrix multiplication workloads. As core ↑, memory latency, bandwidth contention & synchronization overhead are important.

Something new from Flow. Over the past few months, we’ve been validating new performance results for Flow PPU across parallel benchmarks and legacy code workloads. More soon.

Processor architectures struggle as parallel workloads grow demanding. Our architecture is designed differently. #FlowPPU uses a scalable multi-fibered, multicore architecture. It adjusts parallelism according to algorithm needs. It improve memory access scalability & bandwidth utilization. #CPU

Parallel execution is powerful, but coordinating threads efficiently is hard. Traditional models often introduce synchronization overhead, complexity, & unpredictable performance. TCF addresses this by executing groups of threads (fibers) in tightly coordinated steps w/ deterministic control. #CPU

CPUs play a big role in system performance. A recent paper analyzed representative agentic #AI workloads. Findings: #CPU tool processing accounts for (90.6%] of latency in some workloads, CPU-side tasks dominate runtime, & CPU dynamic energy accounts for (44%] of the total dynamic energy at large.

Shared memory is central to parallel computing, but difficult to scale efficiently. Traditional multicore systems rely on cache coherence, introducing overhead & limiting scalability. ESM addresses this, enabling high-throughput execution, latency hiding, & simplified parallel programming.
