How do you talk at length about an artist's work when it's based on another artist's drawing? You can't talk about form or composition, because someone else came up with it. With Lichtenstein, all you can comment on is his use of dots- How the fuck did people have enough words to make him famous?

I always recommend retailer variant covers as fun jobs for freelance comic artists- there's so many people doing it for pure love of the medium, and they'll pay better than some publishers. But... You need your brain operating at 100% to avoid the shady car salesman dudes doing them.
