Okay, yeah, definitely that, rocket booster and perfect conditions. Rare sight and still absolutely fascinating and happy to have witnessed it.

Me n family just witnessed this. Looked like a star getting sucked up and ceasing existence. Insane how bright that was in the night sky before it just... Disappeared, the middle bright spot gone and with it the cloudy spiral.

Meerkats are accustomed to doing everything together. Everything. Including picking a cereal. The roo doesn't even like cereal. He won't eat any of it. But If the roo walked off to go grab the milk from the next aisle the kat would actually, legitimately, be distressed. So...

I made another page about Privacy on here, not exhaustive, but a good intro, I think :)

Intro to Bluesky privacy:

(drawing of unlocked padlock)
1. Your Bluesky acct is PUBLIC (as of yet there is NO priovate option)

2. There are NO private messages (drawing of letters "DM" with no sign through them)

(drawing of round face behind brick wall)
3. Blocks are PUBLIC (people aren't notified when you block them, but your block list info is available for public search)
(drawing of snake tempting round face person saying "yesss look up who blocked you")

(drawing of round face with fingers in ears)
4. Mutes are Private
but...
5. Mute Lists are PUBLIC
you can follow others' mute lists and/or make your own by going to Moderation --> Mute Lists

Here's a little addition since I glossed over the Home Feed Preferences :)

A closer look at:
HOME FEED PREFERENCES
(toggle drawing) Show Replies:
toggle to allow, and adjust "likes" to see more/fewer replies to posts in your home feed (tl)
Less likes = more replies seen.

Show Reposts:
you can turn off all reposts here, but you can't turn off reposts from individual accts (yet.)

Show Quote Posts:
you can turn off QPs, but reposts will still be visible if you don't turn them off as well.

Hey I made a quick welcome guide to BlueSky :) There's tons more, but I think these few steps will get you up and enjoying it quickly.

(arrow pointing to drawing of toggle) Toggle to enable Adult Content
THEN choose Hide, Warn, or SHOW
(star) tip: images are AI moderated so some slip thru & some G-rated images get tagged as "explicit", so "Warn" may be the bet choice atm
#3 Go to SETTINGS
(box with drawing of toggle) toggle require alt text on images (please ♥)
(arrow points to) Home Feed Prefs
(star) Use these settings to control seeing reposts & replies on your TL

#4 Go to My Feeds
Go to "Discover New Feeds" to search for interesting feeds like "Only Posts"
Click the "+" to add the feed
(box) Go to the (gear icon) [edit my feeds] here you can pin and unpin feeds
(side note) pinned feed will appear at the top of your TL
Don't forget to "♥" the feed when you click on it to preview, this helps others find it!

A recent cartoon for New Scientist #thetruthisoutthere #ufo #hat

A Venn diagram. In one circle is a figure being chased by an alien spacecraft. In the other circle is a figure running after their hat which has been blown off by the wind. In the area where the two circles overlap is the shape that can be read as either the hat or the ufo. It is labeled “flying object”.

Same old tactics they always used for all marginalised groups around the world at one point or another. Even if they let you speak out, they'll find a way to turn it around somehow, even tho that does still bring more light when ppl actually experiencing the issues, bigotry, etc., first hand speak.

From the ones I've been checking out, from my searches of checking out smoller streams, not that much tbh. You get the odd stray hater here and there, but it's definitely a rarity.

So I feel like... The habit I'm doing on Mastodon should be done here too. When it comes to artwork, don't just favourite it, reskeet it. Make sure the artist gets as many public eyes on their work. It is very useful and very helpful. Don't rely on an algorithm. Be proactive!
