No doubt about Wonder's music reverberating far beyond! An East/West coast thing in regards to French hip-hop would make sense I suppose but I'm really not qualified to comment 😄

Really not my scene tbh. But I had a tape copy of IAM's first album on heavy rotation then - like everyone else in school really! I don't think many countries outside the US took to hip hop and rap as much as France did in the 80s? Possible US acts looked back at the likes of IAM and NTM?

I once jumped on seeing the cover of the Digger at a newsagent's window - featuring the woman who had been found guilty by the jury I sat on a year earlier!

I hate that new design so much that I'm considering getting a free account at datahub.metoffice.gov.uk for API access and (urk I hate this too) trying my hand at vibe-coding something less ugly and more readable and with less scrolling than the new design.

This design will be turned off soon. Use our new design.

When did people start reading out "5x" as "Five ex" instead of "5 times"?! Hearing it constantly in the past few months and yes it seems to be mainly an American thing.

I was taking some work training today - a Teams call recording and it got really uncanny as I realised the woman speaking (with her face on camera) must be the narrator for so many trainings, her voice and delivery sounding so familiar. I'd never paused and wondered about the person behind the voice

We get them all year round and breeding in parks ponds here. Never seen a flock, but only so many nests can be built on small ponds! They're an absolute riot, very fun to watch (and less fun to hear!)

i can sympathise, my most regular pre-coffee fuckups include: placing coffee beans into filter instead of grinder first. putting a bit of a milk in the mug, then walking out of the kitchen before pouring coffee. i had to get a Tshirt when I came across this design!

Two more reasons why I don't like going to the office: 1/ A sign instructing employees "scan your badge at this height that has been emailed to you" 2/ Menopause poster in the bathroom "change is inevitable, how you handle it isn't". Wtf are these two sentences even supposed to mean?

So many replies defending it though...which doesn't entirely surprise me, it's sourdough for people who don't like sourdough as its taste and texture are very much basic white bread. (And some confusion with the very sour tasting toasting loaf).

I don't have a substack account, but in case you want to add a comment: old towels can be donated to dog/animal shelters, as they go through loads. I dropped some off at a local vet not long ago, some will collect items for local shelters.

Really not bothered either. I have low sensibility when it comes to my teeth - downside is if I feel pain then I'm really in trouble. I've had plenty of work done without anesthetics (there are limits obviously!) as I hate the after effects.
