Seeing a cybersecurity expert spreading FUD about Firefox is making me seriously question his credibility. If only there were a way to see exactly what Firefox sends when telemetry is enabled… (hint: `about:telemetry`).

Stages of getting a tattoo: research, excitement, second-guessing, pain, feeling gross while cleaning up blood and plasma, itchiness, peeling skin like a snake, excitement again. Unless you end up with regret (did you do your research?). At least by now I have my aftercare down to a T.

I confess I don't know much about Kevin O'Leary. After hearing him talk in a podcast about IA, China, eating-baby robots, a series of very unflattering adjectives comes to mind. “Disconnected from reality” is one gracious way to put it. He also feels like the perfect product of Trumpism.

Interesting post by the author of @allaboutberlin on how AI is killing his awesome website. #AI #OpenKnowledge #Berlin

AI is killing All About Berlin. When you Googled something, you used to get a link to my website. Now you get an AI-generated answer trained on my work.

This has a devastating impact on traffic. It's hard to fund my work with 70% fewer visitors. In another year, it will be impossible. Instead of writing new guides, I spend my days preparing for that future.

Yesterday, Google announced two things: AI-generated answers will completely replace search results, and AI-generated answers will soon contain ads.

This is the future of the web. I don't know where All About Berlin fits in that future.

@BigHeadMode Isn't that an opt-in program that requires going through hoops and incantations to enable it? If that's the case — it might have changed since I checked — most people will cave and upgrade to a new device (if they can), losing Firefox in the process (hence the push to create backups).

The latest example? The outrage over the Anthropic–Firefox collaboration. Open source code doesn’t magically secure itself. If frontier models aren’t used for testing before release, attackers will gladly do it later. Done responsibly, this kind of collaboration is a net win for Firefox users.
