Six months of Floci, the free local cloud emulator. 2.6M Docker pulls. Floci 2.0, with twenty new AWS services. The image got about 40% smaller. The honest part: the Azure, GCP and Oracle emulators have no maintainers, and it shows. www.linkedin.com/pulse/state-...

Five months of Floci, the free local cloud emulator. 1.5M Docker pulls. A fourth cloud, Oracle. Our first in-person workshop. The maintainer list went from one to five. The honest part: releases slipped, three Testcontainers modules are dormant. www.linkedin.com/pulse/state-...

State of the Flock #002: Five Months, Four Clouds
Five months since Floci went open source, and this was the month the project left the screen. The Flock met in person for the first time, at JConf Dominicana in Santiago.

Stop juggling Azurite, the Cosmos emulator, and four ports to test one app. floci-az = 19 Azure services on one port (4577). Real services, SDK-compatible, not mocks. 1 Docker image. 24ms start. ~13 MiB. $0. Free + MIT: github.com/floci-io/flo... #Azure #DevOps #Test #LocalDev

From breadboard chaos to a real PCB. I designed my first custom PCB to run the Pi4J smoke test reliably on a Raspberry Pi: I2C, SPI, and GPIO tests, no more tangled jumper wires. The full story (schematic → ordering → results): webtechie.be/post/from-br... #Java #RaspberryPi #Pi4J #PCB

A local cloud your team and your AI agents can iterate against in milliseconds. Floci runs AWS, Azure & GCP as one native binary. Free, MIT, no auth token, real engines. Safe to break, reset a container instead of your staging account. floci.io

First time using @floci.io (just for an S3 bucket) - ran via dotnet.testcontainers.org (there's a nuget package for that 😁) and huge levels of "just worked". Not new to running infra locally, but even so the lack of surprises was very welcome.

Had a lot of fun learning more about @floci.io ☁️ from @hectorvent.dev! What a great project, and what a great use case of Native Image for fast startup, low memory usage, and easy installation across platforms.

floci-gcp doesn't model GCP's wire format. It implements the server side of Google's own protobuf stubs. Deep dive: dev.to/hectorvent/h... floci.io/gcp #GCP #Terraform #DevOps

How floci-gcp builds GCP wire compatibility on Google's own protobuf (and stays maintainable)
A local GCP emulator that doesn't model the wire format at all. Instead it implements the server side of Google's own generated protobuf stubs. Here's why that's the whole trick.

Hi Lobsters community. I'd love to join lobste.rs. I'm Hector Ventura @hectorvent.dev: I build Floci (an suite of cloud emulation platform for local dev and testing) . Would any existing member be willing to send me an invite? Happy to share more about my work if it helps.

Lundi, découverte #OpenSource !💡 Entre #LocalStack qui verrouille de plus en plus de features et les éternels drames de licences (coucou MinIO 👀), ça devient un vrai casse-tête de trouver un mock AWS 100% libre pour le local. J'ai découvert Floci !🧵👇 go.thibaud.dev/b4NB #AWS #DevOps #TechFR

Floci helps you emulate AWS/Azure/GCP Cloud locally. It is easy to get started: $ curl -fsSL floci.io/install.sh | sh $ floci start $ eval $(floci env) $ aws s3 mb s3://my-bucket github.com/floci-io/flo... #docker #terraform #devops #floci
