Time is running out to get the early bird rate at our conference. I think it's a really interesting line up which will speak to all sorts of relevant challenges, whether or not you are working in pallaitive care. Relevant right across the UK and beyond (and Edinburgh is easily accessible).

New paper published @flissmurtagh.bsky.social Funding for palliative research remains very low: out of total of 18,023 health research awards in 2022, only 136 related to palliative research – just 0.26% of the total £4.2billion awarded. See spcare.bmj.com/content/earl...

First plenary at #PCC2025 - Kirsty Boyd speaking: need for population- based care; multiple conditions (heart, vascular, and frailty) growing fast, cancer increasing - no longer ‘linear pathway’ - Scotland removing term ‘end of life care’ - identify how pallcare can help. Future care planning key.

First plenary at #PCC2025 with Feargal Twomey speaking: increasing pallcare need, poor coordination, a lot of work to be done, recognition of system-wide pressures, can’t say ‘too busy’ - we must take responsibility to find a way through! Level 1, 2, 3 pallcare needs - needs assessment required!

I've been teaching yoga, breathwork and meditation to patients, caregivers & HCPs in palliative care settings for a long time. My #realist research @wolfsonpallcare.bsky.social unpicks the relational & soothing mechanisms activated by these approaches that lead to down-regulation of distress.
