This week's top scrobbles look a little something like this.

Fantastic Mr Flint @flintfox.bsky.social · 14/10/2026

After a curiously Tin Machine length hiatus, back to going through these on the Discord project. I basically just adapted my old RYM review for this. But this is one of his best!

A bit of a whim order - bumped into this Japanese label roster compilation a few weeks back & really enjoyed its cosy and chill loungey vibes. And the ltd edition CD was quite cheap all things considered... Came wrapped up in a really neat and cute way too!

New music review up! Sonic Riders gets a sequel and its soundtrack shows a more confident take on the original score's aesthetics, even if it's still suffering from some of the same issues. 2008's Zero Gravity Tracks: Sonic Riders Shooting Star Story OST. grumpfox.neocities.org/artists/soni...

New music review is up! Continuing on the Daft Punk story, it's their cold and mechanical, audience-alienating return with Human After All (2005). grumpfox.neocities.org/artists/daft...

Some further new arrivals! Ordered the new Litku Klemetti album & figured I'd just order a bunch of other Finnish stuff at the same time (+ that Dears EP as it was on sale). Meanwhile I'm getting heavily into Uncle Tupelo so steadily continuing that path of that discovery.

Dears - Protest EP
Desert Planet - Extra Ball: Best of the Early Sold Out Releases
Lemonator - The Waltz
Litku Klemetti - Sata pahaa poikaa
Magyar Posse - Kings of Time
Uncle Tupelo - Still Feel Gone (2003 reissue w/ bonus tracks)

The physical version of the Horse Club / @cowboyboobs.trickystoop.com album had arrived in post during the travels, so spending tonight with it through the headphones 🧡.

About 4-5 years ago I got to handfeed a fox-shaped log named Yogi as part of a special experience gifted for me. Still cherish that day a lot. Yogi was *very* old for a fox even back then so it's not a surprise he was no longer here, but seeing this sign next to the enclosure got me a bit emotional.

Autumn is here, the weather is getting colder, and that means the evenings can get a whole lot cosier. A wonderful YCH from @crunchchute.bsky.social 🧡

New music review! Going to start a mini-series of going through the Sonic Riders OSTs in-between "regular" reviews. I've never played any of these games! But I've got the CDs so let's go, and start with Speedbeats Grand Prix: Sonic Riders OST (2006) grumpfox.neocities.org/artists/soni...

Last week's top scrobbles. Not much of a theme, apart from a fair bit of instrumental music/soundtracks to soothe the busy head. Also a bunch of Death Cab after last week's gig.

Let's sink into this for the evening.

I don't typically do these things but sometimes I need an easy hit of dopamine. Take your pick of the Gang, if you wish to partake.

I know it's just a typo'd tag that somehow ended up linked on the album page, but I can't get "Personal Jesús" out of my head.

Fantastic Mr Flint @flintfox.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

The new Perennial album is a lot* of noisy, raucous fun! *actually about 20 minutes but somehow doesn't feel tiny, maybe cause of how intense it is throughout

Death Cab were wonderful. Great set, great form. Had a little cry too (positive).

New music review up, continuing on the RHCP trail. In the middle of personal and professional turmoil, the Chili Peppers unleash a dark and soul-searching, yet bizarrely playful, beast that goes into wildly unexpected directions. 1995's One Hot Minute. grumpfox.neocities.org/artists/rhcp...

It's been a while Bill, it would be lovely to have some of your talent grace my foxy face once more. Ref/moodboard below, and you may have all the artistic freedom you can muster for the pose/expression/happenings. Thank you. 🧡

New review: everything clicks into place and the RHCP we know are born, with an admittedly overstuffed yet incredibly inspired set of evergreen alternative-meets-funk rock. 1991's Blood Sugar Sex Magik. grumpfox.neocities.org/artists/rhcp...

Just a quick ad hoc, 'unrehearsed' video of Fang for #FursuitFriday, which we shot some time back just to see him 'in action' more (given there's not much room for him to move around indoors!). Still absolutely over the moon that he is real & you can't believe how happy being a big jerboa makes me.

This week's top scrobbles. A copy of Uncle Tupelo's No Depression arrived this week and hnngh I'm a bitsy obsessed. So good. I'd lament about why I ignored them for so long but tbh, I don't think they would've hit me as much as they have when I was younger.

051

Fantastic Mr Flint @flintfox.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

Just a bit of a nothing of an album this one. Some potential (and yes the title track is absolutely the best thing on it), but a lot of it just wasted on mid songwriting and ill-fitting production.

It would've been my dad's birthday today so in honour, listening to some classic Finn rock in the form of a box set I 'inherited' from his CD shelf. A lovely bonus touch is him having saved a clipping from the local newspaper about the box set/adjacent memorial concert within the booklet.

Yay, I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't think this is bad just because boomer critics say so. Definitely, absolutely flawed with a couple of real career nadirs, but a lot of good stuff there too!

Ah it's been a while since my last dig through the old art archives! Let's make a return with a minimalistic touch, with this wonderful background-blending illustration from all the way back in 2013, by Miller. Still sometimes think it'd be fun to print this on a shirt...
