The next release (20th Nov) on the DiN label will be 'Capstone' (DiN98), a 2CD album from the concert I performed alongside @flcartographer.bsky.social & @sulkrooms.bsky.social in Liverpool on 25th April at the Capstone Theatre in Liverpool including our epic 3-way jam session at the end of the gig.

Alterations Volume One and @silver-threads.bsky.social are a year old today! It comprises all the music I made for my Alterations project last year, and some of the writing. As the double CD album sold out a while ago, I ordered a second run that arrived just now. It'll be available soon.

No me neither- I imagine it’s a very different beast now. Spectral processing including freq based separation etc means there’s pretty much nothing you can’t alter now.

Oh yeah. It’s amazing what you can do with something as simple as Ozone - just putting stuff in that’s not there on your source material. I haven’t used any of the newer spectral processing stuff but I expect that’s next level. It is for transparent noise reduction/removal.

Yeah - the Studer J37 had a decent frequency response at 15IPS - probably down to 30hz or something- so the original tapes would’ve had decent bass repro. But I listen back to stuff from the 80s & 90s even & it’s so bass light compared to what we’re used to now.

I think it’s not just a matter of EQ mate either- you can’t add frequencies that weren’t there to start with. But you can do exactly that using harmonic / resonant exciters to create that extra information. Even basic corrective/mastering software like Ozone will let you do that, to terrific effect
