A comic featuring Winter the Icewing and Turtle the Seawing playing The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time. Both of them are seated with their backs to the camera, while a TV with a dragon-version of Link standing in Hyrule Field sits in the center of the frame. Turtle explains the heroic, high-fantasy themes of the game while Winter observes that the protagonist is green. This flusters Turtle. He continues to explain facts about the game, mentioning the hero's father is a tree, there is a princess inside a big fish, and at night zombies come out and kill you. He then, without warning, hands Winter the controller and tells him to try it himself. Winter grabs onto the three-pronged controller with three talons. He looks very tense doing so, and mashes buttons. A yelp is heard and Turtle observes that Winter has somehow killed Navi the fairy, despite that supposedly being impossible to do.

Smaugust 2026 - "Game" Bit of a sequel to "Cyber" from my 2024 run, Qibli playing games again. Obviously not canon, since they haven't quite figured out computers yet on Pyrrhia, so it's just a fun what-if. Wood stocks are too low, sire. #wof #WingsOfFire #wofWinter #wofQibli #dragon #Stronghold

A two-panel comic. The first one shows a facsimile of a real time strategy computer game (modeled after the game "Stronghold"). There is an overhead-view of a desert landscape with rivers criss-crossing through. There is grassland in the east, with three crops fields built on it. A mouse cursor is hovering over that area. The user interface shows a menu for placing buildings, as well as a grinning dragon holding a scroll with various game statistics on it.

Cut to the second panel, where Qibli is playing the game on a computer while Winter watches. Winter asks him what he is doing with the cursor and Qibli replies he wants to build another crops field. This annoys Winter, who cites some kind of ideal resource chain ratio and says three fields are enough. They argue a bit back and forth and Winter suggests Qibli's peasants should revolt and overthrow him.

Qibli, looking annoyed, suggests Winter should play himself instead of backseating him all the time. To this Winter is shocked and insists he can't do that. Qibli replies that it's about time he started playing them then, and that if his strategy games are too intimidating to start with, Winter should go see the others and check what they are playing. He calls it a "quest of self-discovery". Winter seems apprehensive and nervous at the idea.

Winter is standing at a body of water and brushing his teeth. Qibli slinks through the door and past him, prompting Winter to comment that Qibli finally got out of bed and that he is too late to get clean and ready in time for class. Qibli assures him he will be. He grabs a nearby towel and rubs his face with it. Then he puts it away and claims this is all he needs to be ready for the day. Winter is speechless and stunned at this declaration, then hisses and is overtaken by unyielding rage at Qibli's horrid hygiene standards. The last panel is an exaggerated close-up of his face, enraged and wreathed in heavy shadow, with teeth exposed and glowing eyes.

A comic page continuing the previous events. Umber the Mudwing knocks at the room entrance and pokes his head through the door. He explains Webs sent him to check up on the two since they weren't there when class started. It then shows Winter, surrounded by soap bubbles, shoving Qibli into a mound of foam and dunking him in water. Only his hand is visible through the foam. Winter declares that Webs will have to wait, as this is "a hygiene emergency." Umber accepts this explanation and bows out.

Finally, Qibli resurfaces, gasping for air. A block of soap is in his mouth and he is spitting out more foam. Winter says "Stop eating the soap! You ninny!" as he continues pushing him into the water.

A comic featuring Qibli and Winter. Winter wakes up a sleeping Qibli, who groggily wonders what's happening. Winter then informs him that there is a spider in the bathroom. Qibli doesn't know what he is supposed to do with this information. Winter explains that he wants him to get rid of the spider, saying that, as a Sandwing who eats scorpions, Qibli should be able to deal with this problem. Qibli angrily refuses to eat the bathroom spider, to which Winter says he doesn't care how Qibli disposes of the spider, as long as he does so somehow. Qibli then walks into the bathroom, intent to see the spider and making fun of Winter. He then looks at something off-panel (implied to be the spider) and falls silent.

Smash cut to both Qibli and Winter now waking up a sleeping Moonwatcher. As Moon gets up, Winter explains that there is a spider in the bathroom, while Qibli sheepishly says "It's a lot bigger than I expected."

Sunny goes into an explanation about how she's been taking care of Stonemover for a year now, and that she thought she could convince him eventually to stop punishing himself with the stone curse if she continued to be there for him. She laments that, with Animus magic no longer working, her father will now forever remain trapped with his stone curse and nothing she can do will help him now. During her explanation, she tears up and begins crying. Clay hugs her.

A comic page showing the Dragonets of Destiny. They are flying around in a spacious cavern while chasing small rabbits. Tsunami is carrying two baskets, Glory is carrying a heavy bag, and Sunny and Clay are carrying a tarp between them. Starflight is sitting on the floor, leaning against a wall.

"That's enough. You caught most of them", calls out Dune, their guardian, who is perching atop a nearby stone platform. "Gather before me, swiftly and silently! Now!"

The Dragonets land and assemble before Dune, who addresses each of them. "I took the liberty of watching you and I will now assess how each of you performed during this hunt. First, Sunny. Your movements were sharp and clear, and you expertly anticipated every move of your prey." Sunny listens intently and seems happy.

"Tsunami. You have good instincts but lack restraint. Half of these carcasses are mince." Tsunami, annoyed, rolls her eyes. "Of course he praises Sunny and chews me out," she says. "I caught twice as many as her."

Dune continues: "Clay. You have the strength but your movements are dull and clumsy. These rabbits ran circles around you." Clay is calm and says "I'm sorry, I just prefer bigger prey."

Moving on to Starflight, who is completely out of breath and bracing himself on Clay's wing, Dune simply says "If I had tears left I would be weeping."

Finally, Dune completes the assessment, passing over Glory entirely and instead telling them to finish eating quickly and go to sleep. When Glory confronts him and asks how she did, Dune says: "Glory? I was preoccupied. I didn't have time to watch you."

Glory looks to the side, looking disappointed but not surprised. Her colors shift into dull browns and sickly greens. "... Right," she says. "Good hunt, everyone."

A comic featuring Glory. She has retreated into a small alcove with two scrolls, rolled up next to her. She is lying against the back wall and covering herself with her wings. The colors are moody, drab, and dark.

Glory looks on silently, seeming like she is lost in thought. After a while of not saying anything, she lowers her head slightly. Her mouth curls into a deep frown and tears begin to well up in her eyes. She is about to start crying.

"No," she says matter-of-factly, catching the tears with her talons before they roll down her face. A hint of a red glow spreads through her scales, replacing the dull dark blue she was earlier.

The last panel is a close up of her eyes, shown very prominently. There is no sadness visible in them anymore, just fierceness, anger, and determination. "You are NOT getting that satisfaction from me!" she declares, balancing the tear she shed on her digit.

"The tray was closer than I thought..." Palm replies, looking sheepishly.

"You are a treasure, you know that?" Smolder finally says.

The same scene as before, with Palm and Smolder. Palm's face is now free of crumbs and Smolder is holding it up by her chin, looking into her eyes. They are both blushing.

"There she is, my little salt muffin," Smolder says. "Thought you could hide from me under all those pastry bits, hm?"

Someone noted that my Winter&Icicle skit felt like something out of a visual novel. Which it is. "Son of the Year" This is a skit I wrote a while ago; a hypothetical conversation between Turtle and Umber had the latter never left the academy abruptly. The format was written for a blog and doesn't translate well to bsky. I tried my best to convert it anyway. #WingsOfFire #wof #dragon

Umber the Mudwing and Turtle the Seawing are inside their sleeping cave. Umber is lying on his back on a bed-like stone platform while reading a scroll overhead. It is rolled out and sprawling all over his belly and spilling onto the floor. Turtle is a few paces away, lying on his stomach and writing on something. An abacus sits next to him, implying he is doing math.

(Sounds of scroll rustling and pen scratching)

TURTLE:

The same scene as before, except Turtle turns away and starts speaking. Umber, letting his scroll rest on his chest, listens intently.

So, the Sea Queen hugged me the other day.

While the whole Darkstalker kerfuffle happened. I returned home for a bit and she, well, she gave me a hug. For the first time... ever.

That kind of tender moment... I've been waiting for it all of my life. It was really nice when she finally went and noticed me; called me by my name even. I'm happy that she did; I can maybe finally start to move on from some things that have been weighing on me.

But it's weird.

I've spent so long waiting, and hoping, and wanting. Now that it happened I kind of realized…

I don't really know her?

I know Anemone, I know Auklet. Heck, I even know Tsunami and she's only been aware of my existence for a few months.

A comic featuring Qibli the Sandwing who is looking for Winter the Icewing. He comes across a door with a sign that says "No Qiblis allowed" and correctly surmises that Winter must be behind this door. The door has a small gap underneath through which Qibli talks to Winter, telling him that he intends to enter. Winter claims this to be impossible since the door is locked, to which Qibli simply says "Watch me."

Qibli then proceeds to squeeze himself through the gap over four panels like a cat. Once all but his feet and tail have made it past the door, he greets Winter with a cheery "Hi there," while Winter can only respond with an exasperated "WHAT!?!". Truly, theirs is a beautiful friendship.

A comic featuring Blister and Blaze of the Sandwing princesses. The story begins at some unspecified point in the past. Blister is sitting in her room and brewing some manner of (likely poisonous) concoction. Blaze pokes her head through the door and informs Blister that their mother wants to speak with her, which Blister blows off. The next panel shows Blister sitting in front of her work station in an awkward hollow back pose, which prompts Blaze to criticize her posture, mockingly likening it to a defecating vulture. This enrages Blister and has her chasing her out of the room.

The comic then skips ahead about 20 years, showing an older Blister stretching after having gotten up from sleeping. Her back loudly cricks and pops several times, and she groans in discomfort. She laments the fact that, of all the things Blaze could have been right about, it just had to be this. She resolves to be the bigger dragon and, after thinking about it for a moment, smiles and decides she should go and kill Blaze.

Was asked a question about Chameleon. This two-parter image series was part of my response. It shows a hypothetical sceario of Chameleon wandering the desert and getting roped into a working in retail by a wealthy Sandwing store owner. Probably not canon. #WingsOfFire #wof #dragon #wofChameleon
