Best birb mentioned! Greetings from western Canada~

Aya Shameimaru holding up two fumos of herself while in the Kourindou tengu costume. While also out in the snow.

Not quite the lunch I originally planned, but ig this means that Bunbunmaru's coverage embargo on Tim's will be lifted. The Flatbread Pizza remains to be a chonky slab of cheese and sauce for $8. Thoughts in alt-text. Happy Fumo and #Femboy Friday btw. #fumofumo #fumoposting #ふもふも #射命丸文 #cosplay

The three Ayas sitting in front of a flabread pizza, while my upper body is covered by the pizza box

Two fumo plushies of Aya Shameimaru sitting next to a Parmesan Chicken flatbread pizza from Tim Hortons

My thoughts on the pizza:

While a lot of the fast food options in most major franchises are pretty bad, this seems to be the least terrible option out there. The amount of pizza you get is roughly the equivalent of two slices from a by-the-slice pizza joint, though the chicken is pretty dry and crumbly.

I'd personally recommend getting this on the principle that most pizza places in Calgary are adopting the use of AI slop, while Tim's at least backtracked on their own slop in favour of professionally photographed (albeit somewhat dishonest) photos from the food sculpting business.

It's Miko Monday, but the cute plushie prince doesn't seem too impressed with this Chinese bakery's attempt at a cinnamon roll. I guess $2.50 is now the standard price of meatless Chinese buns, though thoughts remain in the alt text. #fumofumo #fumoposting #ふもふも #foodphotography #yyceats #豊聡耳神子

Fumo plush of Toyosatomimi no Miko from Touhou Project sitting in front of a Chinese bakery's take on the classic western dessert bun: the cinnamon roll

My thoughts on the bun:

I'll be perfectly honest, the end result is just a regular ass bread bun that manages to be plainer than a bolo bao. The only contribution that the cinnamon adds is a grainier texture when you bite into the bun. While there is a sugar coating on the bun itself as shown by the ambient light of the sky reflecting off the bun, the coating is so thin that it only adds enough sugar for the pastry to stick to your fingers, but not enough to actually affect the overall taste.

Fumo plush of Flandre Scarlet (LostWord) sitting between an Egg BLT McMuffin and a medium soft drink.

My thoughts on the purchase: The Egg BLT McMuffin's $4.90 price point is admittedly bad at face value, and I was fortunate enough to have a coupon to get a free drink to go with it. Still not the greatest of purchases I've made, but given the errands I was running at the time, it seemed like less about "what's a good use of my money" and more "what's the least shittiest thing I can buy for lunch"

Orinrin's looking to stuff her face with Pizzaface. The slice is normally $5, but if you're the type to eat a late lunch, it'll be $4 instead. Thoughts on the pizza in alt text. #fumofumo #fumoposting #yyceats #calgaryeats #yycliving #foodphotography #ふもふも #火焔猫燐 #foodsky #downtownlife

Fumo plush of Rin "Orin" Kaenbyou from Touhou Project sitting in front of an Italian sausage pizza.

My thoughts on the pizza:

I'll admit that I came in expecting your regular-ass pizza with toppings, though it's apparent to me that the guys running the place want a specific flavour palette to go with the toppings of choice. There's very little that can be done with the wilted spinach and onions, though the goat cheese provided a welcome sense of sharpness that also crumbles nicely with the sausage spice. Basically, this $4 slice is what Famoso wishes it could be.

When everything in the Lake Fraser Drive strip mall is fucking overpriced, buying a chicken sammich at Pizza 73 suddenly sounds like a good idea, especially during a $5 promo deal. Thoughts on the sandwich in alt text. #fumofumo #fumoposting #ふもふも #ルーミア #yyceats #calgaryeats #foodphotography

FumoFumo plush of Rumia from Touhou Koumakyou New Classic - Embodiment of Scarlet Devil sitting in front of the Ranch'r Chicken Sandwich from Pizza 73

My thoughts on it:

It's admittedly heavy on the breading, and they REALLY went overboard on the ranch dressing. Other than that, the patty is definitely better than what you'd get from a McChicken, and even a DQ Chicken sandwich, though it kinda sucks that the only veg they used are pickles, especially when they have spinach to use as a pizza topping.

Either way, I guess I can hold off on going to the Arby's for the time being, and a standalone food court that charges food truck prices on everything makes Arby's look comparatively attractive.

In today's episode of Safeway being the default food option on Sundays, I dunno how to feel about their pizzas. I guess for $4.50 + tax, there's far worse ways to spend it on pizza, especially in this age of AI. Thoughts on the 2 slices in alt text. #fumofumo #fumoposting #ふもふも #射命丸文

Fumo plush of Aya Shameimaru from Touhou Project sitting in front of two slices of Chipotle Chicken BBQ pizza from Safeway.

My thoughts on the slices:

The dough is dense, bland, and dry, the bbq sauce is bbq sauce, though the chicken portion is surprisingly generous for being as small as those slices are, and the chicken itself is pretty well seasoned, too. I think the biggest crime on those slices is the admittedly low quantity of cheese on those thingies, but at least they aren't being clankers about what the deli is selling.

For Marisa Monday, I believe I found the last bastion of decently priced pho from a human-run business. $14.25 + tax at Pho Rang Dong, #Calgary, AB, Canada, thoughts on the noodles in alt text. #fumofumo #fumoposting #ふもふも #霧雨魔理沙 #foodphotography #yyceats #calgaryeats #foodphotography #yycliving

Fumo plush of Marisa Kirisame (PC-98) sitting next to a bowl of Special Beef Noodle Soup.

My thoughts on the dish:

For what was basically $15 including tax, this was a decently sized serving. The broth was pretty flavourful, and the noodle and meat portion was definitely within reason on what to expect from how much I spent on lunch.

While I appreciate the amount of slice beef in the thing, I couldn't help but note that there was barely any tripe, and there was only like, one meatball that's been cut in half. There is also a similar amount of tendon. I guess I was kinda expecting a more balanced ratio of the different beef cuts, rather than just the sliced beef being the lion's share of the meat.

Non-official fumo plush of Sakuya Izayoi sitting next to three different cookies that I bought from Purr Tea, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I already forgot what the flavours were, I just knew that they were only a dollar each if you buy two or more, including taxes.

The white cookies taste very similar to one another, and to me, they taste like what a sugar cookie should taste like. It's almost as if cookies baked daily from a locally owned coffee shop are actual cookies, unlike the cookies that are mass-produced for sale at a supermarket's bakery aisle.

The third cookie at the back is made of coconut flakes, caramelized sugar, chocolate, and most likely JUST enough dough for the confectionary to maintain a cookie-like shape. I can't tell if it's trying to be a chocolate, cookie, or candy, and I can respect its indecisiveness.

Fumo plush of Shion Yorigami with a Mighty McGriddle Extra Value meal.

I know for sure to never pay full price for that thing, though even with a coupon, the base price is $7 + tax, though my upsizing of the coffee to a large brings it up to $7.95 including tax.

I'll be perfectly honest, I feel like the novelty of the McGriddle's pancake bun is wearing off on me, though if the opportunity presents itself, I'll still get it regardless, as the extra fat and sugar that comes with it is extra food energy for the photoshoot I did shortly after eating that thing.
