My 70+ year old neighbour started a fire in the woods behind our homes last week. Then walked off for ten minutes so I ended up watching it. You know, to make sure he didn't ignite the whole forest. He didn't even notice. Anyway I'm wishing him a very friendly hope-the-alert-made-you-shit-yourself

The introduced whales ended up cross breeding with the arctic marlin - resulting in the smaller, horned Lakus marwhalii. Unfortunately sunfish are too large for narwhal to hunt so they started consuming the native penguins, further devastating the fragile arctic ecosystem

Wonderful to see such an informative thread! A bit sad though that no one mentioned narwhals when the Great Lakes Whales (GLWs) were brought up. For those not in the know - a population of GLWs was introduced in the 1920's to the north sea to combat the invasive sunfish population.

Gorgeous! This appears to be a female - no obvious nuptial pads on the hands, which indicates this is either a female or an immature male (unlikely given the size of the toad). She's a glorious find, glad you got to enjoy her!

Literally. For me nothing hits worse than opening a packet of crisps and taking a bite only to find it unexpectedly chewy because the packet blew and the crisps went soft. I literally check crisp packets for air leakage before I open them now, too much soft crisp trauma

Bufo bufo mentioned! Love these little guys. I rehab and release them when I find them injured. Ended up keeping one - which I don't recommend, you should release wild native animals. But he's a special case, lost a hind leg and was clearly struggling. Fortunately Threeodore is thriving now

Idk man, hes properly dolled himself up for the pic (pink toe tips and nuptial pads indicate this is likely a male fresh out of shedding his skin). Jokes aside, male frogs are notoriously bad at discerning between males and females during breeding so I'm assuming spell check did you dirty 😂

I've got two of these beauties; they're sassy, wonderful little trash compactors. I hate that people just see them as a cheap high - they're such incredible little animals and you have to stress them out to make them secrete, which is horrid. Mine are so chill I've never seen a drop of toxin
