Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Yes, there are existing tools for save translation. I do plan on building it into the recomp setup though. 010
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Heyo flashfire here, have you ever thought I yourself, “I wish I could play as the motherwill” in armored core for answer. Welp, I figured it out. It’s still wip but it’s good enough to show off now. youtu.be/8V_DcZXYcWk?...youtu.bePlayable Motherwill Armored Core for Answer modYouTube video by Flashfire 192

Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Been busy making custom animations, sfx parts and other fun things fully functional in acfa. Take a look. This is the final boos of armored core 4 as a playable Next and broken into parts. I am excited to see what the community will do with my tools once I drop them. 0111
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 01/09/2026I am remembering that I should probably do a post about this. I figured out how to port ac4 maps into acfa. It’s a bit indirect, I just formatted the models into obj. Then I reimported them in from there. Sooooo GRIPHON CITY TIME 072
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 01/09/2026For anyone wanting to know the technical nitty gritty here you go. So all of the in game scenes sit on a vtable, a lot of the debug systems were left in the game but were unreachable, by patching acre I was able to force into those once unreachable systems. Here are some of the other fun stuff. 030
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 01/09/2026Heyo, me again, fun fact: Armored Core For Answer had a fully functional replay system. It was cut late into development due to memory restraints and requiring stitching several files together to get a full replay. I know this because I got it working again. 🗿 youtu.be/RW5euhcUYIsyoutu.beACRE Dev Log | Cut replay mechanic for pvp | Armored core ReAnsweredYouTube video by Flashfire 292
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 30/08/2026It’s been a lot of work, I am glad I have been able to do so much, I had dreamed of doing this project since unleashed recompiled came out. Just earlier this year I finally made the jump when the REXGLUE SDK released. I just want to leave the game in a better state than I found it in 020
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 30/08/2026Yeah, I have put some serious time into the netcode, I currently have a patch that fixes warping caused by blades and a few other methods, I am now just working on improving the feel over longer distance connections that can drop packets 120
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 30/08/2026Hey, little update on ACRE. youtu.be/s2aJXoECi54 So this is an experiment for being able to save gamestate memory, and being able to roll it back. I have it set to the extreme but i hope it can lead to some real advances in netcode for armored core for answeryoutu.beACRE Dev Prototype | Simulation State Rollback | Armored core ReAnsweredYouTube video by Flashfire 1152
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 11/08/2026My goal is to make a seamless way to enjoy a game I love and to crack open modding so people can further improve and mess with the game without me. So I can go off and do something else and the community can just keep enjoying the game. 020
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 11/08/2026Generally, I see recomps as a labor of passion, if you enjoy a game and want to see it in a better state than you found it, you can do this to get it there. But a lot of people just use it to chase clout with like 2 weeks of vibe coding. I don’t want to be “the new face of acfa” 220
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 11/08/2026Skyth, one of the head devs of unleashed recomp has actually helped me out a ton with advice over the last few months. There are definitely slop recomps out there. Quality recomps take time. Especially if you don’t have any source code of .pdbs to work with like I did. 110
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 08/08/2026Been perfecting the modding tools for custom maps, but his was me trying to get flat images to work and it came out well. Plenty of more cool things coming for the Armored Core for Answer recomp 090
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 08/08/2026My optimization work took a long time, but it’s been very much worth it, since even on my laptop igpu I am pushing 120 fps. Writing the vulkan render is what sets this project above every other slot recomp, so I really look forward to seeing people get use out of it 070
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 08/08/2026Little experiment I did with ACRE( Armored core for Answer recompiled). It’s still extremely experimental, and not going to end up in the full release but here is ray traced shadows. It took some serious shenanigans but it’s a solid proof of concept for the future. Also optimization is done. 1102
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 02/08/2026So I have seen traces of it in the code but it seems to have been largely removed from the engine. I could not even access it through the debug menus I found. It would have been cool but I don’t thinks is feasible for me to add. 000
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 20/07/2026I come from a. Background dealing with c++ and assembly. I am a student studying electrical engineering technologies. I just enjoy doing computer science stuff on the side. This whole projects has been a massive amount of learning for me. But it’s been super fun. 140
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 20/07/2026I just enjoy throwing myself into hard projects. This is just the first time I have had a lot of people excited about my work. It’s a blast seeing people’s interest into acre. It’s been a solid 5 months of work to get this far. 130
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 20/07/2026Working on making publicly available modding tools for acfa. I already cracked online play and a mod pack system. Rn it’s all about optimization. On most base maps I have pushed the game to well over 500 fps on a good rig. But custom maps are still laggy. 281
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 01/06/2026Here is a little update video/crap post. It shows off my renderer and what I can do with it. Unlike most ReXglue static recomps, I have cut out the last bit of emulation by hooking directly into the game’s rendering system. youtu.be/Jh7Py2y21i8youtu.beBad Apple Core | Armored core ReAnsweredYouTube video by Flashfire 0155
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 01/06/2026Yeah the Xenia render sucks, you can’t do anything cool with it. I ended up hooking internal d3d device functions along with several other engine systems. It forever but it was well worth the effort as I can start to implement unleashed recomp style graphical improvements. 010
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 01/06/2026Most ReXGlue projects feed their rendering into Xenia, as it’s the only real universal way to render things for every game. But it comes with issues. ACFA for example hated being resolution scaled. So I made the decision to completely break from Xenia gpu emulation. 020
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 01/06/2026Yeah lol. I just have been hosting everything privately. The project itself is not in a shape I can push it to the public atm, since I am working on a custom renderer for the game. Spent the last 2 months learning how to use vulkan. Upside it’s going well and I have control over a lot of rendering. 120
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 01/06/2026I has miss spoken in the first message, the github I currently have up is ancient. Lots of work has been done over the last 2 months 051
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 01/06/2026As for the SDK itself, Tom (lead dev of the SDK) has used some, but I can back him up, he is legit. One of the smartest people I have worked with. Drama in the space is mostly petty arguments. At least currently I have not run into any real drama with my project. 010
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 01/06/2026Ai has helped with specifically reverse engineering systems. It can help nail down specific functions I have to hook/modify. I try my best to avoid using ai code, especially because the entire project is in c++ and llms SUCK at c++ coding. 110
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 01/06/2026Hey dev of the recomp for acfa, an ac4 recomp is currently not planned, as I am trying to keep myself from falling into feature creep. I am going to actively be creating modding tools for acfa, so the community might eventually end up porting it over without me into acfa. 150
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 01/06/2026I have been looking into the netcode a lot, thankfully the groundwork for online play has already been laid by the Xenia canary team. Netcode wise, a few modders and I have been looking into increasing the amount of positions updates per second. As the current system built in is a bit rough. 020
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 01/06/2026Yo, dev of the project here. There are some sick things being worked on for acfa. Currently, I am working on the emblem/decal system to allow for significantly more layers for customization. 2141
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 01/06/2026Yo, flashfire here, dev of the project. Planning on making this as easy as possible to grab and go. The final project only will require that you can drop in the game’s assets/ game disc iso. Because I legally can’t include those. 0111
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 01/06/2026Currently, I am working on a native renderer, it cuts out the remaining emulation for the recomp allowing for even better performance and a lot of graphical improvement. 0181
Flashfire @flashfire199.bsky.social · 01/06/2026Hey, flashfire here. Thanks for the shout out. The GitHub you posted a has not been updated in a while. working on some huge stuff with the modding community for acfa. 2220
