Kind of hard to boil this down to JUST 9 formative books as my avarice for reading has always been unquenchable. But these 9 are all books (well two are plays) I encountered at different stages in my life that impacted me.
A 3x3 square showing books that were formative for Flappy.

1. The Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong
2. Guards! Guards! by Sir Terry Pratchett
3. The Importance of vejng Earnest by Oscar Wilde
4. The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan
5. 1984 by George Orwell
6. Neuromancer by William Gibson
7. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
8. The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
9. Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett

"Hey SquareEnix gimmee an RPG with nothin"
The gimmee a cheese with nothing meme, where a teenage boy approaches a countertop in order to order the most unimaginative item possible.

It was surprisingly difficult to narrow this down to only 9 so I tried to focus on games I've personally reccomended to people that had no idea they existed.
A list of 9 woefully underplayed steam games that I reccomend in no particular order.

Va-11 Hall-A - Literally one of the greatest Cyberpunk bartending games ever made and should be mandatorily played by anyone who likes the genre

Endless Mondays - a humorous game about friends, air fryers, aliens, and surviving deadlines in the corporate world

2064 Read Only Memories - What if Snatcher was remade but was actually original and not just a vortex of Blade Runner and Terminator memes.

The Forever Winter - Have you ever wanted to play an extraction shooter that was actually difficult? The game puts the extraction back in the genre because you're gonna be wanting to extract when you're being chased down by 30 robot zombies when all you have is 3 bullets in a dinky 9mm

World of Horror - A rogue like horror visual novel style game where no route is ever the same. Honestly one of the best to do it and worth giving a try if you enjoy Cthulu mythos.

Project Zomboid - You die, but how long that takes depends on your capacity to survive in a world where you're the only human left. Probably one of the greatest and most ambitious Zombie Survival games ever made.

Vampire the Masquerade - Night Road - A choose your own adventure style game set in the World of Darkness. You play as a vampire courier and try your damndest to not die. Probably the best VtM game since the original Bloodlines.

Fuga Melodies of Steel - A funny little game where nothing bad happens.

Malviolence - What if the worlds littlest guy made you solve puzzles otherwise you die? A short but incredibly fun entry in a longer series

Does this mean I have to learn how to do backflips AND sell Louis Vuitton hand bags?
FF Resonance Quiz result showing a result of Lightning (with a score of 90), the titular protagonist of FF13 and one time seller of designer hand bags due to a bizzare collboration with Louis Vuitton.

(Spoilers for FF13 are displayed in blocked text on the image)
"You are someone who built the cold on purpose, to protect something warm. Claire Faron became Lightning when she decided that hope was to dangerous to carry unarmored.

You became the blade so your sister could remain the light.

Family Branded, cast out, hunted- you moved through all of it without slowing down.

But the armor was always in service of something tender.

The love was always there, running hard under everything else.

Fate is not a wall - it is a challenge issued.

You answered it sword first.

Keep Moving.

The one you're protecting can see it."

Didn't think I'd wake up to find out that I've also been blocked by a member of Blueskys dev team. You'd think that, being a representative of your brand, you'd want to avoid stepping on these very obvious rakes by simply utilizing the very features the site offers.

Not having fortnite is an actual deranged metric for judging whether or not something is retro.
Gamestop's rules for this include "the presence of component cables, the lack of Fortnite, and the realization that they launched when George W. Bush was still president." (The Wii U was actually released in 2012, and Bush was out of office in 2009 - so we're guessing GameStop meant to say 'Wii'."

There were a lot of games I'd eventually play a lot like Brawl, or Disgaea DS but in actual 2008 I think my biggest games I played were probably Persona 3FES followed by the GAME OF THE CENTURY Lost Odyssey. Its a actual travesty that Lost Odyssey is just in forgotten IP jail as its story is so gold
The box art for Persona 3 FES, a JRPG for the PS2. A silloutte of the tragic duetorotagonist Aigis is on the front which is a nice aesthetic touch contrasted with the summoning circle and alternating blue colors of the background.

Unfortunately it doesn't convey much about the game outside of that there is a robot girl with sick ass gun hands in itThe Box Art cor Lost Odyssey, an XBOX 360 JRPG that has become lost to time.

Ironically this mirrors some of the themes of the game where you learn that being a badass immortal doesn't stop the ravages of time upon not only your own memory, but of the cultural memory around you. Much like how Microslop seems to forget about all its major IPs that aren't named Halo
