I mean... they did... but if you just want a desktop experience, then honestly any Linux distro will work. Heck, Linux Mint has worked fine for friends of mine, and installing Steam can be done exactly like how you install it on Windows (they will give a DEB file instead of an EXE).

Judging by some lookups on the latest with various discussions, that only seems to ring more and more true. Some things going on just feel like people want to keep stirring the pot for the sake of it... and others seem to actively desire it? Like... why?

And who knows: maybe the same is true vice versa. If that's also the case, then it's also its own kind of proof the other way around. I guess what I'm trying to say is think for yourself, actually try something, and form your own experience. I did this a week ago with VRC, and I'm fine with that.

One thing that has bugged me is the recirculation of "Resonite players mean" but many of said people saying it over and over... never touched the platform. It's been a lot of "Well a friend of mine said..." And you know what? Strong chance they never tried it either! All that reminds me of this...

Yeah, and many people's 'protest' after looking around more also stated to not leave or go elsewhere. Like... so what you are saying is... keep giving into the point that makes them work? Cancel VRC+ (I did years back), don't make use of the services, and don't advertise them.

From my experience, worlds and static objects work great, while avatars can be hit and miss. I'm not sure about menu options migrating over, but given that Resonite's interaction system is a different beast entirely, you are better off just doing that part in-engine.

You can basically just use the Unity SDK, which links up the Unity editor with a session (so yes, you could run multiple SDKs in multiple sessions at the same time). It has tools to help process objects and avatars from one system to another, or even allow you to edit the world in Unity directly.

We understand that AI generated content is a big topic in the current VR landscape. The Resonite team has been working on an AI disclosure policy and tools to ensure that you can both filter AI generated content, and properly tag content as such. Thank you for being patient with us!

I used one for awhile, but the CPU eventually got overwhelmed with my setup at home. This throttled the entire network pretty hard and I eventually upgraded it, but sometimes I think about what I can use it for.

The amount of monetization put Second Life to shame ($7 for a sword?!), and finding who was still around was just annoying. Not to mention, the menu size was so small that it was uncomfortable to use. Uninstalled, and time to wait another 5 years. It was worth it to surprise the friend, at least.

Flame Soulis @flamesoulis.com · 20/09/2026
Ignoring an old Unity bug (acknowledging all controllers as an input, so my rudder pedals kept pulling the menus down unless I manually held them in place), menu navigation felt stiff (in VR), FPS was capped at 60 (monitors are 144hz), and disabling snap turning was somehow harder than before.

So... after nearly 5 years of never touching VRChat, I decided to give it a try to wish someone a happy birthday and to see what has changed. Nothing. Nothing has changed in any meaningful way, except having face tracking be broken (I'd have to reupload a patched version) & the menu system blows.

Phew. I think Resonite might get some Steam Frame support after all x3 To be clear though, I still think it's kinda ridiculous that devs have to go through the whole lottery process in the first place. As much as I like Valve as a company, as a VR dev I often feel we're left to dry.

For something like this, I could see it like taking the internet traffic streams or the drawing of a computer graphic frame and adding visual flare and audio to blend it into an art form that breaks down a task completed in 10ms to 5 minutes per action.

To be fair, some crypto projects by their community had... interesting ideas. I recall one used the transactions being processed for the upcoming block being used to drive some kind of synthesis system and the completed block's hash resulted in a change in the track.

I have archived everything for the most part. The oldest snapshot I have is from 2015, and that's because it was the first time I got HiFi running on Windows (specifically when builds for Windows became available). All other builds were on Fedora on a drive I no longer have.
