Is it maybe related to this? I didn't know the movie was a book first...

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #ShoreBirds, defined as "any bird on the shore", so I'm going to take that as license to post birds at a lakeshore, even if only one might be generally categorized as a "shorebird". #photography #birdphotography #birds
Two large white mute swans, two Canada geese, and a small Black-headed gull gather along a pebbly shoreline at the edge of a calm lake. These are a few birds of the huge crowd of birds found around the docks at Bowness-on-Windermere, which is a small extended tourist trap occasionally masquerading as a town in the English lake district.

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #LookingDown: "any bird looking down/head lowered" An Eastern Kingbird from early August, head lowered so that you can just see a tiny spec of the orange crown stripe that pops up when they're angry. #photography #birds
A close-up photo of an Eastern Kingbird perched on a rusted metal railing against a clear blue sky. The bird's head is angled downward, looking intently below. It has dark grey and brown feathers on its head and back, a bright white chest and belly, and a tiny orange patch visible at the center of the top of the head.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Brown, any bird with Brown in its plumage. Here's a nice little Carolina Wren I was able to catch quite close last week. #MicroFourThirds #photography #birds
A close-up shot of a Carolina Wren (a small brown songbird) perching on a thin, angled tree branch. The bird faces slightly to the left, showing a slightly curved beak, a prominent white streak above its dark eye, a fluffy buff-white chest, and brown streaked feathers on its back and head. Green leaves and a soft blue sky are blurred in the sunlight-dappled background.

Today #Ducks&GeeseInFlight is the #BirdOfTheDay theme. Here's a Common Merganser shortly after takeoff from back in February when we still had some ice floating on the river. #photography #birds
A male Common Merganser captured mid-flight, skimming fast and low over calm river water. The duck is shown in profile facing right, with its dark dark-green head, thin bright red bill, white underparts, and black-and-white wings outstretched. Motion blur in the wings and water highlights the speed of its low-level flight.

Like this? I'm just slapping it in with Gimp; I also am not skilled in these programs but H-level ECC on the QR code gives you lots of room to play with.

It seems like you're using H-level ECC on that image, so at that point you could even do this and it'll still scan:

For today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme, I'm going with the alt. theme of #GardenBirds ("any bird that you might see in your garden") because I don't have any new wading bird photos for the main theme. A female Downy Woodpecker in my actual back garden. #photography #birds #OuMyOfficeWindow

Often when I post a Northern Mockingbird for the #BirdOfTheDay, it's because of its singing, but although "crooners" is the main theme today, this photo is for the is alt theme of #Eating. #birds #photography
A light gray Northern Mockingbird with a long tail and thin beak perches on the bright magenta stems of a leafy plant. The bird is captured in profile with its beak open, with a single dark berry far back in its mouth. Hanging from the plant stems are several clusters of berries in various stages of ripeness, ranging from pale green to deep purple. The background is soft, out-of-focus, bright green bushes and similar plants.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BlueWater, birds surrounded by Blue Water. I saw this Mallard Duck couple out having breakfast on the river early yesterday. #birds #photography #microfourthirds
Two mallard ducks swimming from left to right across calm, deep blue water in bright sunlight. In the lower-left foreground, a female mallard with mottled brown feathers and an orange-and-black bill leaves a gentle trail of ripples. In the upper-right, a male mallard with a bright yellow bill and dark head swims ahead, both birds casting subtle reflections on the surface.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay is #BirdSupermodel ("Any bird captured looking like it's posing for a magazine cover shoot"). This is such a comic book cover pose I had to use it, even though it means posting the same bird two days in a row. #birds #photography
A Northern Mockingbird perched at the very tip of a thin, leafy green branch against a softly blurred, bright green background. The bird is angled slightly to the left with its head turned to the right, showing off its light gray chest, darker brownish-gray wings, long tail, and distinct yellow eye.

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BlueSkies ("any bird against a blue sky") I think I've shared other shots of this mockingbird, but not this one. #birds #photography
A Northern Mockingbird perched among bright green leaves against a clear, vibrant blue sky. The gray bird is shown in profile facing right, with a yellow eye and a thin, dark, slightly curved beak. Green leafy branches fill the lower foreground, partially obscuring the bird's body, while its long tail extends downward to the left.

Good morning; today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #WingsOpenNotFlying ("birds with their wings open when not flying"), with an Alt theme of #Blue. This female Mallard drying off that I shot the other day might work as a two-fer. #birds #photography #microfourthirds
A female mallard duck floating on rippling water with its wings outstretched wide in a wing-stretch. The duck has mottled brown and beige plumage and faces left in profile. Today's #BirdOfTheDay is #BestBeaks ("any bird with a beak or bill that has striking colours, bold profiles, or an interesting shape") I don't think there's anything better for that theme in my photo roll than these Oystercatchers I saw in the UK in April. #birds #photography
Two oystercatchers forage along a muddy, twig-lined bank at the edge of a calm wetland. The shorebirds feature black heads and upper bodies, bright white underbellies, pink legs, vivid red-orange eyes, and long, straight, bright orange beaks.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BestOfTheMonth, meaning September 2026. Going with another image of the Red-tailed Hawk I shared for the #Raptors theme earlier this month. #birds #photography #microfourthirds #LookingAtYou
A Red-tailed Hawk perches atop a metal post against a plain, overcast gray sky, looking directly forward with wide, intense yellow eyes. The bird's feathers are mottled brown and white along its back and wings, with a lighter, speckled chest. Its yellow foot and sharp dark talons grip the perch firmly above a white structure.

Today's theme for #BirdOfTheDay is #EFG, birds beginning with any of those letters (1st name). So here's a Great Blue Heron seen a few weeks ago locally. (At a bit of a distance) #birds #birdphotography #photography #microfourthirds
A great blue heron stands in profile facing left in a sunlit, shallow mudflat. The bird has slate-gray plumage, a long S-curved neck, slender dark legs, and a sharp, yellowish beak. Patchy green algae floats in the surrounding shallow water, with a rocky, pebbled shore visible in the background.

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Elegant, so I tried "elegant" as the search in my photo-archiving software (immich) and it showed me cats. So many cats, and a few women in long dresses. But basically just cats. (Continued in alt) #birds #pigeonsky #birdphotography #photography
An all-white Rock Pigeon stands on a rock. The background shows some out-of-focus posters advertising a lake cruise, I think.

📍 Bowness-on-Windermere, England, UK
📷 f/4.5; 1/3200 s; 127 mm; ISO 500

... So anyway, when I did filter the software down to where birds started showing up for "elegant" by filtering on camera type (most of my bird pictures are taken with my standalone camera, and my phone camera takes more cat pictures), the first several pictures it presented were all low-light things with lots of noise. Eventually it presented this bird in a different pose, so I went searching for the picture I knew I had of this bird in a better pose.

Anyway, the conclusion is that AI is not ready to curate my bird pictures, at least not the cheap kind that can be incorporated into open source software I run on my own machine.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BirdBuddies: two different bird species sharing the same space. I thought there was going to be some bird drama when this duck swam up to stand on part of the submerged tree the cormorant was already on, but they were both cool with it. #Birds #photography 🪶
A Double-crested Cormorant and a Mallard Duck standing on a mostly submerged tree branch in the middle of a river, both facing to the right. Its head is turned slightly to the bird's left so that the head is facing left and ever so slightly towards the camera. The background snow has a few flecks of tree detritus and a half-buried twig visible, but it's mostly just a dull white.

For today's #ItsAllWhite theme for #BirdOfTheDay, I present this #pigeon couple. A bit before this photo, I saw what was pretty clear courting behavior between these two as the male pigeon puffed out his ruff and spread his tail wide while following the female. #pigeonsky #birds #photography
Two all-white domestic pigeons stand along a rocky shoreline next to shallow, rippling water. The larger pigeon on the left stands tall facing right, featuring dense, pure white plumage, reddish-pink feet, a small pale pink beak, and a dark eye. To its right, the smaller pigeon stands slightly more angled forward, also facing right in profile. The larger pigeon has a noticeable thick neck ruff of fluffed feathers. The background is composed of small gray gravel scattered with dry yellow leaves right next to the water.

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay Alt theme is #BirdsOfAFeather; as I don't really have something that fits the main theme, I offer this flock of Ring-billed Gulls from February.
A flock of seagulls (specifically, Ring-billed Gulls) flying in a loose V-shaped formation across a pale, overcast blue sky. The birds stretch diagonally from the top right down toward the bottom of the frame, their wings mid-flap against the plain background.

A bluesky screenshot showing that in my feed this post was right next to a post about that crypto billionaire saying that he wouldn't be doing charity because it's a net negative to the world.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BirdsUpClose. Here's a Herring Gull up close; the whole picture is 19MP according to my photo software, so only just barely cropped.
A photo of the head and neck of a European Herring Gull. The characteristic red blot on the bottom of the beak is just barely visible, which probably tells someone who knows about such things information about the bird's age. The background is out-of-focus sand and small pebbles.

I'm going with today’s alt #BirdOfTheDay theme of #Blue, not so much in the scene, but in the bird. #birds #photography
An Eastern Bluebird perches on a thin, textured tree branch dotted with light green lichen. The bird is shown in profile, facing to the right, and features striking deep blue feathers across its head, back, wings, and long tail. Its throat and upper breast are a muted rusty-orange that seamlessly fades into a soft white belly. The background is blurred, softly lit green summer foliage.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BestOfTheMonth, "any bird captures you admire the most out of your August 2026 Collection" August includes the last few days of our UK trip, so two of those, but then I saw this gorgeous Northern Yellow Warbler shortly after we got back. #birds #photography
A Rose-ringed Parakeet in a beech tree eating a beech nut that it pulled off the tree. I like this series for showing how the bird did this: plucking the beech husk off the tree with its beak and then balancing on one foot while using the other like a hand to hold the husk as it dug out the nut. Some of these shots turned out not as sharp as I'd like, but I think this one is pretty good.

📷 ƒ/5.6; 1/640 s; 300 mm; ISO 320A Gray Heron in moss-covered water right after it caught and quickly swallowed a fish (hence the wet head/neck). Unfortunately, my shots of it diving and then with its head up swallowing the fish were too zoomed in and cut off lots of what I'd want out-of-frame. I like this one though.

📷 ƒ/4.2; 1/400 s; 120 mm; ISO 100A female Northern Yellow Warbler perched on a small bare branch with her mouth partially open. The background is about 3/4 out-of-focus green leaves with a clear blue sky behind the leaves. I'd never seen this species locally and I think I got lucky to catch it on migration to places further south.

I'm sorry. Would you like an emotional support bird picture? I've got cute, resilient, gawky in a cute older-juvenile way, slapstick...
Juvenile European Robin in Cambridge, UK. (cute)Pigeon in Manchester who has been through a rough inner-city life (the other leg isn't hidden; it's completely missing) but still looks fabulous. (resilient)Juvenile Moorhen from Cambridge looking just a bit oddly proportioned with those giant feet. Also, why are they green? (gawky juvenile)Pigeon wire landing failure in Manhattan. (slapstick)

Today’s main #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Coastal&River ('any coastal or river birds") with an alt theme of #Rocky ("any bird capture with a rock in view") I knew I'd have a two-fer somewhere in my Lake district photos. Juvenile Herring Gull. #birds #photography #ukbirding
A profile view of a juvenile European Herring Gull standing on fine grey gravel. The bird has mottled brown and grey plumage with intricate scale-like patterns on its back, a slender dark beak, and dark webbed feet. Along the right edge of the frame, Canada geese are partially visible. In the background at the top of the frame, a large flat rock is visible behind the bird's head with some yellow dried leaves gathered in front of the rock.
