But yes—absolutely. We should let kids bikeshare at least as early as we let them drive. We should have Cabi stations at every high school. We should have at least twice as many bike racks as parking spots.

The Supreme Court needs wholesale reform. Doubling the number of justices, establishing mandatory ethics rules, and creating term limits—perhaps by using senior status—is a moderate position.

Nope, we’re not. Downtown DC has had ongoing road closures since July 20 for this one event. And that will stretch until the first week of September. 7 weeks of this is enough.

One of the myths of car ownership is that users fully pay for infrastructure costs. It’s only partially true, and in DC, it is not particularly true. Especially with the gas tax on the decline, it’s time to consider other options to sustainably fund the costs of building and maintaining our roads.

Just canceled my DashPass and sent this email to DoorDash. I encourage you to do the same if you support D.C. home rule. press@doordash.com and ir@doordash.com
Hello,

I’m writing to let you know that I just canceled my DashPass because of DoorDash’s disgraceful campaign against D.C. home rule.

DoorDash is urging Congress to nullify a new D.C. law imposing a 20 percent tax on food-delivery services—not merely by overturning that law, but by prohibiting the District from enacting any new tax without prior congressional approval. That is an extraordinarily sweeping assault on D.C.’s right to govern itself and an odious insult to the District’s residents.

I am especially disgusted by DoorDash’s public claim that it is somehow defending D.C. residents while actively seeking to strip us of our right to govern ourselves through our own democratically elected lawmakers. Please do not pretend that disenfranchising District residents is an act undertaken on our behalf.

I intend to publicize DoorDash’s attack on home rule as widely as possible and urge everyone I know to boycott the company.

Shame on you.

Even with this ANS, this would mean DC would need active congressional approval for things like local real property tax abatements, tax incentives for development deals, etc. This is an expansive overreach by the so-called party of small government.

I’m new to this—can we get FIFA to suspend Belgium’s 4 goals?

Conor Shaw @fixcircle.bsky.social · 06/07/2026
But his WAS violent conduct and the three game suspension was merited and shouldn’t have been reversed!

Conor Shaw @fixcircle.bsky.social · 06/07/2026
What I haven’t heard enough about is the fact that FIFA actually set the stage for this by suspending Ronaldo’s red card that he received at the end of qualifying that should have been served at this World Cup too. If you’re mad about Balogun, you should be mad about that too!

Conor Shaw @fixcircle.bsky.social · 06/07/2026
There is no defense of the process around Balogun’s red card. It should never have been given. It should never have been suspended. It should never have created the appearance or reality of political interference in sport.

If you lost your trust in FIFA in the last few days, rather than when they awarded the last World Cup to Qatar or when they awarded Trump with a grotesque peace prize, or when they decided to hike ticket prices to obscene levels….welcome to reality.

I think CM McDuffie has done some very good things in the criminal justice space. The NEAR Act, some of his Secure DC amendments to name a couple. Baby bonds (which the current mayor and cfo never implemented and then undercut) was also great policy and would have reduced economic inequity.

None of this is to minimize the good work happening at both WMATA and DDOT on buses, but it is to say that DDOT has some good reasons to try to structure coordination with a partner agency to avoid bad outcomes.
140
Conor Shaw @fixcircle.bsky.social · 29/04/2026
Some context here: WMATA had some pretty serious fumbles in the bus network redesign. No funds were budgeted for route adjustments, so DDOT has had to pick up slack from WMATA. WMATA didn’t communicate changes in bus type to DDOT, including shifts to articulated buses that no longer fit at stops.

IMHO all of 4th street NE between T street and Michigan should be converted to curbside protected bike lanes, but this is a great down payment (along with a bunch of other sensible improvements for all users in this corner of Edgewood).
