Public executions are part of “American values”? Since when? What time period is America being restored to? The 16th century?

Trumpism doesn’t mean “America first.” It not only means “America alone,” but “America loves and rewards hostile dictatorships that even help kill our own troops, while hating and punishing democracies.” If Trump were president in WWII, he would have supported Hitler.

Trump’s diesel deal with his dear friend, murderous dictator Vladimir Putin, would do very little to reduce diesel prices in the US, but would help Russia greatly as it needs money to continue its illegal and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, which Trump now apparently heartily endorses.

It’s not antitrust to make editorial decisions. This doesn’t affect the price of news. This is one of MAGA’s favorite ways to punish businesses for exercising their First Amendment rights in a way the regime dislikes.

It's also reductive. "If you're a self-described socialist who doesn't like a policy, you must necessarily dislike it because it offends your socialist beliefs." No: you can also dislike policies because they're empirically ineffectual, or they're immoral, or they're illegal.

Literally no part of this response has anything whatsoever to do with socialism. It's just a list of typical MAGA grievances.

Trump keeps making sweetheart deals with Russia that also just so happen, in such a weird coincidence, to personally benefit his family, then complains about the media's obsession with his ties to Russia.

Public service announcement: if you thought it was ethically and legally wrong for Hunter Biden to try to trade on his claimed family connections to get a job, you should be as outraged, if not more so, that Trump and his family are making billions of dollars from their connection to the government.

Trump and the rest of the MAGA Party know every metric is against them. They’re pouring money into what by all rights should be very safe districts and states. As a last-ditch effort, of course they’ll try to cheat. Just like Trump tried a coup in 2020. talkingpointsmemo.com/news/democra...

One time Hunter Biden put his dad on speakerphone to convince his bosses he had some influence of his father which he didn’t actually have. Of course, both of these things—pretending to have influence and actually making $6 billion—are completely, exactly the same.

This comes a day after the White House had to do cleanup by insisting he wasn’t saying Iran should attack Los Angeles or San Diego and anyone who thought that’s what he was saying was a moron with Trump derangement syndrome. Turns out the Trump derangement is coming from inside the house.

Presumably, Trump will be very upset on Friday that he will not be winning the Nobel Peace Prize, despite having the grace and forbearance to bomb Iran only a little bit, and not obliterate it entirely, as he has threatened to do multiple times over the last year. A class act all the way.

Trump’s failed economic policies have hit hard not only geographically among his base, but also demographically. These voters—the ones the MAGA Party thought they could count on without question—dislike Trump’s policies, recognize it’s those policies that are hurting them, and may sit this one out.

Scrooge Jones @fitzador.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
They’re not afraid the MAGA faithful will vote for Democrats; it’s that they’re afraid their base just won’t show up to vote. Polls confirm this. 60 percent of Democrats are “very enthusiastic” about voting for their candidate, compared to 37 percent of Republicans as to the Republican candidate.

Coupled with the fact that Trump & Co. are stumping in states Trump won by double digits in 2024, it’s clear their strategy isn’t converting independents—that ship has sailed, and they’re not chasing it. Now they’re just trying to hold on to their base.

That the Senate Republican Leadership Fund pulled out of North Carolina to devote money to KANSAS lets you know how bad the MAGA Party knows the midterms will be. Kansas hasn’t elected a Democratic senator since 1932. There’s no reason they need to even be campaigning there.

It’s also an empty promise. There is no way to pay for what would amount to a $1.5 trillion expenditure. Trump lies and says it will come from tariffs. Tariff revenue isn’t nearly enough to cover this fake, pretend, made-up “promise” he has no intention of ever fulfilling.

The only way you get money is if Republicans win. And the only way they win is if you vote for them. Hence, you are being offered something of value to vote for Republicans. It goes without saying, or at least it should, federal law prohibits offering something of value in exchange for a vote.

Scrooge Jones @fitzador.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
This is more of Trump’s mob-boss tactics. He will say, “I’m not telling people to vote for anyone in particular.” But implied in this statement is “if you vote for Republican candidates in the midterms, I will reward you with money.”

In any event, the Time magazine interview reiterates that Trump has no intention of changing what he’s doing, has no interest in listening to criticism, and insists the buck stops with everyone but him, and he’s not responsible for anything, even though he’s the most powerful person in the world.

Scrooge Jones @fitzador.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
A president can’t make decisions which affect the real world we live in based on made-up fantasies. Hence, the third option is the most dangerous because it would mean Trump is completely untethered from reality.
100
Scrooge Jones @fitzador.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Thus, Trump actually believes the economy is doing great. He actually believes his war with Iran is going spectacularly. This means he’s detached from reality, either because he’s being provided false information by his advisers or because he’s delusional. Neither options are great.
100
Scrooge Jones @fitzador.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
The third part of the Trump Trinity is the darkest. In the first two parts, Trump knows on some level what he’s saying is false. But in the third explanation, he actually, legitimately, honestly believes that what he’s saying is true and what everyone else is saying is a lie.
100
Scrooge Jones @fitzador.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
And so he must keep repeating these lies in order to reassure *himself* of his self-image as a perfect person who can do no wrong. (Insert the Principal Skinner meme: “Am I so out of touch? No, it’s the children who are wrong.”)
100
Scrooge Jones @fitzador.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
But to admit that, for example, the economy is in the tank and that his war of choice with Iran is going badly would be a psychological bruise he couldn’t bear. It would mean he made an error. It would put a crack in his vision of himself as beyond perfect, perhaps leading to a nervous breakdown.
100
Scrooge Jones @fitzador.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
The second reason is that Trump is trying to convince himself. Trump is a pathological narcissist, someone who is convinced he’s the smartest, most capable person who has ever lived, that he understands more about every conceivable topic than anyone on Earth. That he’s the best and the greatest.
100
Scrooge Jones @fitzador.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
The economy is great, he says. The war in Iran is exceeding our expectations. He says these things hoping other people will believe his rosy evaluation of the situation rather than the actual state of affairs, which are much bleaker. (It’s worked plenty in the past, but not so much these days.)
100
Scrooge Jones @fitzador.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
The first reason is that Trump is trying to convince everyone else the state of reality is different from what it is. This is the most benign explanation. Facing a tanking economy and a war in Iran he choose to start, and clearly has no way of winning, he simply disagrees with the facts.

Scrooge Jones @fitzador.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Reading the Time magazine interview with Trump, we are again faced with the Trump Trinity: three different explanations for why Trump consistently and repeatedly says things that are simply not true.
