Agreed. They make the car much brighter than with the winter wheels that have been on it for years now

I don't think I ever posted that I had the V70 wheels refurbished. They were in a horrific state and they were apparently a ball against to sort out but the car looks so much better for it

A bit of lifter noise but all good

In other news I fitted the new solid state DME relay (with fancy diagnostic lights) to the 944 today and it fired up no problem. The next step is to get it transported back here so I can change the gearbox

I was close when I was dealing with problem after problem earlier this year but once I got past that it's feeling like a keeper. I do have a Volvo 940 I need to get rid of though!

Thanks. It was an MOT failure destined for the scrapyard as the engine was making an awful noise. Turned out to just be the water pump with the MOT fail being a broken spring and failed brake light switch. It was back on the road in time for the free retest.

I've been giving the Boxster a tickle with a machine polisher and a quick ceramic coating. It's come up pretty nicely for a car I bought for £200 in 2018

It now also serves up a weird melted version of the GT86 in the bonnet reflection

Today I gave the bargain basement Boxster a long overdue tickle with the machine polisher. Last time it was it was 6 years ago and previous poor paint jobs have surfaced since then. I got as far as the driver's door after a clay bar and a light polish. It's now an even better 10ft car at least

The Volvo wheels have come back from a refurbish. Finally the dark grey winter wheels can come off and the normal ones can go back on. The car looks so much nicer with a. Right wheel

The Boxster is Lottie approved. She loved having the roof down

I've had the box off before when the clutch shat itself and got stuck engaged. I didn't have the money for the flywheel at the time but it was just in spec back then. It's a bit slippy and jerky now.

The tools seem to be the priciest part. I'd be very interested in some advice and the use of your tools if you don't mind. I also have a rear main seal and flywheel to replace. The clutch is also sticking a bit when trying to engage so that needs looking at too.

That little bastard is on my to do list this winter. Did it take your whole engine with it or did you get lucky?

My bill came back at £214 including a headlight adjustment, cabin filter, and air con re-gas. A dealer would have stung even more 😂

The Boxster is looking very much at home on the drive next to the V70. I'm looking forward to using it again...less so the period of finding and remembering all the little issues that I need to work on

All cars have been shuffled ready for the Boxster going for an MOT on Tuesday. The leaks have all been fixed and thanks to a long stint with a dehumidifier the seat motors are now behaving themselves

Ta. It's my one car that isn't ropey. I did find a patch of rust on the rear arch though so that's something I'll have to get sorted.

I had a break from looking after the puppy so I seized the opportunity to clean the Toyota. I also gave the headlights a quick polish and ceramic coating. It's looking much better for it

I've gone nuclear on sorting the Boxster water ingress. The mice that nibbled the water guides can fuck right off

Very nice. I've considered tickling my V70 with the polisher but as it's silver it doesn't make much of a difference, it would probably just make the deep scratches more obvious. It looks good enough after a deep clean though

Blimey, that Escort is almost identical to my first car aside from the wheel trims. It's in better condition than mine was in 25 years ago too

It's another tough day sitting in the sun in Majorca. Today's car spots have been a yellow 306 cab, a brown MK2 Twingo, a MK2 Fiesta, and the pictures G body 911 from across the Porto Cristo Marina

I'm choosing to read it as "I can't even keep my phone secure, don't trust me with anything else". What a bellend, can't even keep his "Nigel Garage Hot Pics" secure from state actors.

I had a dream that I was having to reverse a Rover SD1 up a busy 1970s high street because Rod Stewart was drunkenly pulling a tartan shopper trolley towards me and for some reason had to be protected from passing traffic like a delicate baby hummingbird. Makes you think.

I added a new valve body to the mix & it pissed oil like it was water. Discussed with a local trusted mechanic and replaced the suspected seals and refitted. Pissed oil again. 5th time replacing the gearbox it showed that that input shaft seal was split. Stole the old oil pump housing and rebuilt

All went well until December 2022 where the gearbox just gave a big "nope" and lost all drive. I eventually replaced it with a used box but due to being an amateur I spooned the recoupling and damaged the gearbox oil pump so it failed again. I joined the two boxes together with a reseal kit

The V70 has been quite the adventure. A friend bought it at around 160k as a one owner car (ex demonstrator) and we drove it to the French Alps a couple of times. As he lives in London during the great Diesel crackdown he sold it for me with an ABS problem. Quickly solved that with a new ABS pump

Mine was free back in 2008 due to it being a non runner and being firmly in the way. After a lot of money and an engine rebuild it's still a long long way from a good car

Oh if only it were dry! The dehumidifier told me the humidity is at 91 today. That explains why every car stored there becomes a mould factory.
