And, thank you for your patience, especially those of you who did read and enjoyed "Fish Scales". I promise I'll try my best to finally get everything wrapped up and ready to publish as soon as I can.

I can't promise the story will be "published" any time soon just yet, as I haven't drawn the artwork for any of the covers, and sadly, trying to find time to work on projects like this has been really rough this year. I'll keep you all updated on how things are going.

All that said, aside from writing the epilogue, I can now consider the story truly finalized. I'm so sorry it took me so long to get here.

I like how it turned out. So, I'll probably write that epilogue chapter that I originally mentioned wanting to write after finishing the main story, just to show a little bit of what happens after the ending and address those few small, forgotten plot points. It's nothing real major, don't worry.

--characters a little better. This specific detail is something I alluded to a lot, but never actually showed coming into play. So, I changed that! Aside from that, there were also some smaller details I had forgotten to address again, but I don't want to mess with the story much anymore.

Hello, everyone! Small update, but I finally took the next step in getting this story out there. That is, I proofread the entire thing in one day. I did already proofread each chapter individually back when I was writing them. However, I never went through and read my story from start to finish--

Oh my god, it's been 6 months since I finished the new story. I'm so sorry lmao I'm gonna set aside a few days to proofread it all in one go (already proofread individual chapters) and fix some stuff up, and then I'll start working on chapter art.

I just feel like there's a lot of stuff that happened in between certain chapters, and that was... sorta the point? But, I kinda hate it now. There's so much stuff that I just completely passed up on exploring simply because it wasn't the focus of the story.

What if I wrote like little short stories to fill in tiny bits of the gaps between time frames in Fish Scales; stuff like showing a bit more development between Itsuki and Masako, a bit more of the stuff with Feather... etcetera?

Plus, this story has just genuinely been really fun to write. I hope it will be just as fun for all of you to read.

I feel like that was one of Fish Scales's biggest weak points. With so many time jumps, a lot of major character development happened out of story, and a lot of minor characters sorta came and went. I've been wanting to do better this time, so I've given it my all!

Over all, I'm very proud of this story so far. Rather than being a segmented story leading up to an ending that relates to the segments, this one is just a continuous story with characters that stick around.

Progress update on the next story: Of the 15 chapters I have planned (subject to change), I have written 8. Of those 8, 7 have been proofread by me, and I think 5 or 6 have been proofread by Steven. 0 chapter covers have been drawn.

Passing thought: When I work on this next story, I'm not limiting myself. With Fish Scales, I generally tried to stay around 12 to 16 pages per chapter. But, that felt a bit short a lot of the time, so some chapters may just be longer than others with this next one.

Anyway, back to Fish Scales, I still have some stuff I want to do with the story now that it's over. I want to make a cover for the story itself, and I also have tons of extras I want to upload to the art drive some time soon. Mayyybe I could also write a short epilogue.

Regardless, I have better stories (non-time-skippy stories) planned, and I've even already written the prologue for the next one as of last night. I'm really excited, especially because I'm going to try to bring more characters in for brief appearances before their big debut!

And then of course, there was The Forgotten Mt. Frigid, which I just got the idea to do out of nowhere and decided I liked enough to do in-between chapters. I hope I was able to make Fish Scales still make sense without Mt. Frigid being a required read.

I kinda replanned a lot mid-story, so it was a little difficult to write at points because of me just... not being happy with certain plans and how weird they seemed. In the end, I hope I wrote a mostly cohesive story even in spite of the time skips.

This story was... fun, and also interesting to write. I kind of originally planned for it to just be a little side story with one arc, and then random side chapters for a sort of "What's Itsuki up to?" during the events of later stories. Obviously, it became much more than that.
