The revolution is approaching its endgame: "By 2030, solar-plus-battery/storage power is likely to cost under $80/MWh for over 75% of people, and under $100/MWh for nine in ten." Ember The benchmark for fossil fuels is $100/MWh.

Interesting. I’m using the same quote. Cheap energy is mostly not fossil fuel. I guess it depends how you envisage powering the last yard to Net Zero when we don’t yet have commercially viable 100% renewables. It’s coming, but we’re not there yet.

Richard Wilson @fishrise.bsky.social · 27/05/2026
Not convinced he is trashing it. Net Zero is politically toxic ‘cos it’s seen as expensive with marginal env & investment returns. Big green commercial projects that generate plentiful cheap energy are an easy sell to consumers, investors & markets. No tax payers needed. Net zero is a side effect.

You can argue net zero is a shibboleth. The accelerating flight of capital out of fossil fuels & into renewables is delivering change many times faster than net zero policy. The driver is profit. The public wants welfare reform. Trump is realpolitik. He's in our faces whether we like it or not.

California is showing the world a top 5 economy can grow AND be green! “For the first time, California discharged just over 12,000 MWs, equivalent to 12 large nuclear plants, of energy from its battery arrays. That’s enough to meet over 40% of the state’s energy demand.”

Average new UK electric car price is now lower than petrol vehicles
Autotrader says average EV cost is £785 cheaper, in an important milestone in the move away from fossil fuels * Business live – latest updates The price of new battery electric cars has fallen below petrol cars in the UK for the first time ever, according to the car sales website Autotrader, in a significant milestone in Britain’s transition away from fossil fuels. The average price of a new electric car listed on the website was £42,620, compared with £43,405 for a new petrol model – making the former £785 cheaper based on advertised prices after discounts.
