Yeah it felt weird not having a NADM event to go to this past month. I’ve been enjoying watching Firefly and some of the other dogs from barn hunt doing the dock diving. Ursa has never been crazy about wading past his chest in water so not sure he’d like that.

Spiny Oak Slug Moth (Euclea delphinii) that was under my porch light last night. I had never seen one of these beauties before! Their larvae, like other slug caterpillars, have venomous spines and can inflict painful stings to defend themselves. #insect #moth #Lepidoptera #Euclea_delphinii

Today was Ziggy’s ninth birthday. He started the day by chasing three deer off the lawn into the woods, which was probably the best burger present ever. Later on he and Leeloo went to Petsmart and a park. He also got a couple of new toys. #dogsofbluesky

Ursa and I stopped at the park after our agility class this morning, and when I saw the yellow flowers, I remembered the picture I had taken of him in those flowers when he was little almost exactly a year ago so I took a new one for comparison. I inadvertently disturbed this beautiful little skink when I had to move a woodpile and I felt really bad for wrecking their hiding place. I carefully scooped them up in a handful of the leaf matter and placed in a crevice under the relocated logs. #wnc #wildlife #reptile #lizard #skink

The NIH is also now in talks with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to broaden agreements governing access to their data, Bhattacharya said. In addition, a new disease registry is being launched to track Americans with autism, which will be integrated into the data.

Between 10 and 20 outside groups of researchers will be given grant funding and access to the records to produce Kennedy's autism studies. Bhattacharya did not give details on how they would be chosen, but said their selection would be "run through normal NIH processes."

The dog walk obstacle is almost done! I found a good solution for the sand problem: aquarium sand! It’s much more uniform, less dusty, and doesn’t have sharp edges. Also the coat of paint the sand goes over needs to be really thick, like ‘spreading honey on bread’ thick. #diy #agility #dogsports

I didn’t get squished, but I’m very sore today. There was one point where it looked like both me and the agility A-frame were going to end up down in the ravine at the bottom of the hill, joining my poor shed that was washed down the hill by a landslide during Hurricane Helene.

I woke up to (much needed) rain Sunday morning and it didn’t stop until today, so I wasn’t able to work on the agility obstacles again till now. Finished one of the leg assemblies for the dog walk this evening and got a coat of primer on the slatted sides of the A-frame. #dogsports #agility #diy

Progress on the A-frame. I realized the trim pieces I bought to make slats were only rounded on one side so I hand planed and then sanded them and installed this evening. Tomorrow when the glue is dry I’ll prime the slats and then at least first coat of paint on both halves. #dogsports #agility #diy
