its never a sure fire fix, but when i feel out of control and like im going to pass out or collapse etc., i put Amoroso on. it's my last ditch effort at clinging to something familiar and safe. in my dreams i hug and thank him.

i have some of the worst anxiety of anyone ive ever met, ive had panic attacks that have hospitalized me. and ive been on anti-anxiety medicine since i was 13 or 14, even before that my mom and family have memories of me being a particularly anxious child. something about João Gilberto calms me tho.

open.spotify.com/track/55mCj2... João Gilberto is truly the background music of my daily life.. his voice is so warm and safe. Estate, and Amoroso as a whole, is especially safe to me.

for years i thought the opening lyrics to Nothing In My Way were "why do love (when i know that you hurt inside)" and not "why'd you laugh"

David Lynch gave us the language we needed to better articulate the indescribable strangeness of our shared reality. “Lynchian” is so overused because it’s a viscerally understandable word without any known synonyms. I can’t imagine a more beautiful artistic legacy than that.

i wish i could just fiddle with the disc tray and then test it, but its not worth taking it all the way apart only to have to do it again for the tape deck at another date.

000

dio 🌞🫶 @fishluvr38.bsky.social · 10/01/2025

i also wont be able to buy the right parts for it until i take it apart so im enjoying it for a bit and then ill have to put it out of commission until ive got everything i need.

when i took the chasse off to blow the dust and dirt out od the inside i was at least pleased with the state of things. the annoying thing is the disc tray is at the bottom, its not a top loader, so im basically going to have to take everything apart to get a good look at it. oh well.

dio 🌞🫶 @fishluvr38.bsky.social · 10/01/2025

im nervous to work on the panasonic stereo. taking things apart is so easy.. putting them back together is the hard part. i dont know exactly whats wrong with the disc tray but im hoping its something simple like a loose part or broken belt.

i do need to replace the belt in it for the tape player but thats easy enough. i was worried about the state of the pcb but tried to clean everything the best i could and was very pleasantly surprised that it powered on first try 😭 i usually dont get that lucky w blind tinkering.

someone brought this old psyc walkman in for recycling today. she said it didnt work anymore and batteries had corroded in it. i asked if i could have it & she said yes. took it home, found the service manual, cracked it open & cleaned everything. works like new now :3 very pleased.
