The biryani was delicious, but that Kashmiri chili powder is no joke! 🥵 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ Think I need to get some of the low-heat version they also sell & mix. We both like the heat but this was making my eyes water.

To be fair…I had quite a few of the less common spices because I’ve been experimenting with other recipes. Green cardamom pods yes, but had to order the black variety too. Cumin seeds & coriander seeds yes, but had to order mace. Got some Kashmiri chili powder & a different garam masala to boot.

Been buried in work (as per usual this time of year) including both days this weekend. But taking a break to try my hand at my first chicken biryani. You know the recipe’s gonna be good when the first step calls for a bunch of spices you don’t have in your spice cabinet plus 10 cloves of garlic.

Probably the best recovery I’ve had from a COVID shot. Was starting to feel a little achy when I went to bed, but Tylenol PM pretty much held it in check. Bit stiff this morning but never had the fatigue or headache I usually get & injection site isn’t even very sore.

Been jabbed for both flu & COVID. Holding out hope I don’t get the usual psuedosymptoms this evening but dont have anything else that needs doing today & worth it if I do.

Doing good. Fully empty-nesting now that daughter is graduated & gainfully employed. She’s about 100mi away & comes for weekend every few weeks. Work is…work. Commute seems to steadily take more time. Wife still gets spanked regularly…though not as regularly as I’d prefer. 😉 How about you?

One of my ankles occasionally locks up & is very stiff/sore until it releases with a crack/pop. Started acting that way through the weekend & was limping badly by last night. Called in sick today & been icing it & trying to stay off it. It finally released a bit ago & I literally said “Hallelujah!”

Same. Though I thought boss was just being petty about this, but he’s decided it’s an integrity/dishonesty issue on the other’s part & is escalating it to senior management. So now I’m just here trying to keep my head down & see what drops.

Yep. My wife discovered that a couple years ago. The good ones will just list one ingredient. Assume it happens with other oils too, though that’s the main one we buy & worry about.

They certainly do. One thing we always check the ingredients on is olive oil, because a lot of what’s marketed as such will have other types of oil also listed in the ingredients…but not in the big “olive oil” on front.

That would definitely be more truthful advertising. Don’t remember all the details, but there was a case here a few years ago about how meat substitutes were being described & marketed, which I seem to remember had something to do with using the term “meat” at all in the description.

I do think “vegan leather” has become the hip new(ish) term for synthetic leather. Which I hate. Back in my day we just called it Naugahyde.

I really hate HS-esque power play games. Stuck in the middle of one at work between my boss & another department head. And while I definitely agree with my boss that other guy has not handled things well, we’re going to ultimately acquiesce but I need to let my boss beat his chest a bit first. 🙄

Have mine (plus COVID) scheduled for next Friday at Vons…2 shots then the weekly groceries with the $20 off coupon they give you for getting a flu shot. 😎 It’s my annual mid-September tradition.

For those interested: all it has are boiled Russet potatoes, hard boiled eggs, onion & celery in equal parts Best Foods/Hellmann’s mayo & Miracle Whip (only thing I buy it for) with enough French’s mustard to give it a nice tang & yellow color. But it’s always popular. Grandma’s recipe.

Potato salad now chillin’ in the fridge. Only made 3 lbs of potatoes (instead of the 5 lbs recipe calls for) & it still looks like more than we’ll be able to eat. But so tasty. 😋
