JWST casually just took a selfie.
This is a NIRCam (Near-Infrared Camera) image from the James Webb Space Telescope, taken as part of the alignment process. It shows the 18 hexagonal segments of the primary mirror, capturing the reflected light from distant stars. The image is primarily black with a detailed outline of the mirror segments in a lighter tone, highlighting their arrangement and individual shapes.

This is what I came to BlueSky for, not politics. I get it, politics are important, but it cannot be the sole driving factor in our lives. #moreofthis #lesspolitics

Light continues to echo three years after stellar outburst. V838 Monocerotis by Hubble. 🔭 🧪
This Hubble Space Telescope image showcases V838 Monocerotis, a variable star enveloped in a stunning, expanding nebula. The nebula, a complex structure of dust and gas ejected from the star, appears reddish-brown and resembles a ruffled, translucent shell. Swirls and layers within the nebula are visible, illuminated by the star's central glow and punctuated by bright, star-like glints. Numerous background stars add to the scene's depth, creating a captivating visual representation of this dynamic stellar environment.

The Pinnacles, unusual rock spires in Nambung National Park in Western Australia…how these human-sized picturesque spires formed is unknown. Just past the end of the central Pinnacle, is a bright crescent Moon. The eerie glow around the Moon is zodiacal light, sunlight reflected by dust. apod-NASA
