📅#OTD 1642. Nottingham. King Charles I sent Will Murray, his friend and servant, to Scotland. Murray is instructed to visit those loyal to the king (chief of whom is the Earl of Montrose) to obtain their advice. The king also wrote separately to Montrose to say he reposed great trust in him.
